Is 19,000 miles too long to wait to service Audi A4 ?
I have an Audi A4 with 2.0 diesel engine, has done 13,000 miles and when I check the service button says another 5600 miles or 6 months before its first service. That sounds incredibly long time to me (maybe ubelievable) as I previously had a petrol car and it was unthinkable to wait more than 10,000 milse to get the first service done. - This time I have a diesel A4 so I'm not sure does it sound normal to wait almost 19,000 miles for its first service - but that's according to the car's computer. - Do you know? Is that OK?

Other manufacturers have similar service intervals these days. Improvement in engine oil and engine component technology apparently allows for this. However, I know motor enthusiats who say it's too long to go without an oil change and say it should be done every year or 10,000 miles regardles. I guess it depends if you intend to keep the car a long time and what your views are.
I have a Renault that gives service intervals of 18,000 miles or every 2 years, I service mine every 9,000 or 1 year.
Renault have just changed their service intervals to 9,000 0r 2 years, they have found out that the long service intervals are not working.
The long intervals on modern cars are just a marketing ploy to make people think servicing costs would be lower.
