I work in an open plan office. There is a manager in the office, he seem to be quite full of himself, seems to know everything and has done everything that you have done, only BETTER!. Biggles springs to mind (even has the matching mole) as he enjoys flying and loves to talk about those magnificent flying machines and what he has achieved in his life. He even has a pilots licence!. As time drew on, higher management changed over and seem to wise up to his unreasonable management style. He treated his staff like they were in his regiment (he has extreme army training by the way, para i think!). He has been shot down (pardon the pun) recently and department taken away and put in the corner of the office, someone quoted the other day "nobody puts baby in the corner!" (thinks thats a line from a movie). Recently he has had his chance to shine once again due to manager shortage and been called up to cover.... seems he hasn't learned from his mistakes and is now on a high, stomping around the office and acting all official. He quotes how he did things in the army and how discipline in the office should be handled like in the army. He has even ordered some small items from the stationary department like a high voltage staple-gun and lots of drawing pins, he has been heard saying he needs them to use as punishment items for discipline.. I'm a bit perturbed by this. I'm more concerned that he recently has found a member of staff's myspace blog site on the web, it mentioned this person is homosexual and he has been running around the office whispering it to people..and saying he is a girl.. I don't think thats very management like personally. I notice he has a YingYang Tattoo on his ankle, does this mean something? How do we handle this situation?

"****** off!"
"What? You can't talk to me like that!"
"I just did."
I'm giving you a warning for refusing to carry out a request."
"Good! But I'll only accept the warning in the presence of the H.R. manager, and will be pleased to explain to him/her that your leadership is uninspiring, your manners are lacking, and your effectiveness as a manager is not in the best interests of the business, or us, the employees."
"I think you and I need to talk!"
"So do I. Your office or mine?"
...... and then tell him like it is. Be polite, be honest, stand you ground. Remember, the business will suffer because of him, so his bosses will have little sympathy for him if his behaviour is highlighted, which is the point of the exercise.
