Newcastle under Lyme
As a kid in the late '40s early '50s I lived in Newcastle (Clayton, actually) and then we moved to Canada. I recall that once a week a market day was held on High Street, and vendors would erect stalls and sell all kinds of neat stuff. Also, every so often, a cattle market was held in another area of town. These two events were a great source of fun and amusement for kids at that time: no cell-phones, video-games, t.v., etc..
If there are any ABers living in Newcastle, could you please let me know if these two events still occur?

I'm so old that I remember going to school as St Mary's and the bomb shelters were still situated on the playground! If you live in Newcastle and happen to know some "old folks" please have them contact me. Again, thankyou.
