ID Cards

Hi everyone

I'm doing a presentation on privacy and security.
I would like to get your opinions on whether or not ID cards being introduced is for the better or worse.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of having ID Cards?

i am totally against id cards,
1 as the first contributer to this question
says, the goverment have an abysmal record on i.t systems.

2 the cost of implementing them would
be enough to put thousands more police on our streets.

3 i would not trust this goverment, and
big companies ( ie insurance companies )
not to abuse the information held on the
cards.

4 they would not stop any act of terrorism,
madrid had i.d cards when the terroist
attack on their railway network was perpetrated.

we are sleepwalking into a police state,
and for the naieve people who say,
if you have done nowt wrong youve nowt
to fear, well the goverment propaganda
as already fooled you.

Well said sunnyday. It really worries me how complacent, trusting and naive many people are on this issue.

And, of course, the most naive say "if you've got nothing to hide, you've got nothing to fear"

As for having us all microchipped - I'm speechless!

Everyone should read the book "1984" by George Orwell for an accurate prediction of where we are heading (although we are virtually there already).

the trouble is by the time peole start realise whats
going on, It will be to late.
IF you want to know the way things are going,just take
a look round, PENSIONERS BEING LOCKED UP
FOR NONE PAYMENT OF PART OF THIER CONCIL TAX,
PEADOPHILES BEING SET FREE EARLY FROM PRISON.
PEOPLE BEING REFUSED LIFE SAVING DRUGS,
BECAUSE OF COST. BUT THEY CAN WASTE MILLIONS
ON I.D CARDS THAT WONT ACHIEVE ANYTHING.
