poverty stats

i heard on the news the other day, some mp, cant remember his name ,sorry..wafflin on about child poverty in England.He came out with a bizzare statistic, sayin that every day 240 families are bought over the poverty line....well firstly how, and where do they get these stats. secondly how? i mean what happens then these families just wake up one mornin and everythings ok. Thirdly how many people are sick to death of mps, when bein interviewed on the jobs they get paid an obscene amount of money for, stonewallin and wrigglin their way out of difficult answers by recitin ****** stats like this one..
