i am going a abroard for three months and am having to leave me cat home who is eight I also have a kitten who is 8 months. The eldest cat tolerates the kitten but is now spending a lot of time out. I now have to leave them for three months but they will be in their own home and they are used to the guy who will be looking after them. Trouble is he is not a cat person and will not give them the cuddles and attention that I do. Has anyone out there had to do the same? I am so worried that my eldest will go else where. Are cats more attached to their territory or their owners? Hope someone can help i am really worrying. There is no chance they can come with me.

The problem is that you will be missing them and worrying far more than they are, I suspect. Do you have someone else who they are used to who could come over occasionally for a cuddle with them? Failing that is there someone you know and trust who is a cat person but who may not be known to the cats yet who could occasionally go in? Cats can be very fickle and will probably accept a stranger who makes a fuss of them. I have noticed this over several years of looking after cats that the owners swear are nervous and unfriendly - as soon as the owner has left they're after cuddles! If you are really nervous about it the only real answer would be a cattery so at least you would know where they are.
