Another girl on the news (local) tonight , 15yrs weighing more than 24 stones. Her mum says she has tried everything. Surely her mum has to take some of the blame and how on earth do they afford the food?

It was in the paper I read, the simple solution, although not so simple for the parents, is 'Tough Love'.

I think the only people you can blame for a child overeating to this extent, is the parents or carers.

The girl didn't suddenly wake up one day weighing 24 stone.
If the parents can truthfully say they didn't allow any junk food ,chocs etc in the house or when they were out with her from when she started getting overweight then i would lessen the blame. However i expect this has been a problem well before she was 15 and they have a big part to play .

From the sounds of it, yes she has. Including furniture and pets. (Sorry, my little joke)

Being able to afford food is not a concern - what food you buy is. And I'm afraid a reliance on cheap processed food is partially to blame.

Now I'm not saying it's easy but with Endeavour it should be possible but as usual I imagine the parents couldn't give a monkey's and will blame anyone but themselves.

This story sounds like another example of hopeless parents refusing to take responsibility for their own children. I'm beginning to think eugenics wasn't such a bad idea after all.

After the recent news reports concerning obese children sky news decided to interview the lad in question. 15st at the age of 8.

When asked what his favourite musical instrument was, the fat little f***** said the dinner bell!

It's the parent's fault completely, they probably didnt even notice the girl's existence let alone what she was eating until she balooned up and started taking up more space in the house.
Oh and the fattiest food is often the cheapest, ie- Jumbo crisp packets, Macdonalds (pocket money cheap), supersize coke bottles etc etc, its not hard to see how she may have inflated so fast.
