Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in a partial transcript from a closed-door hearing in Guantanamo Bay is apparently confessing to a long list of plots which he personally planned for Osama Bin Laden. The US seem to have got a key al-Qaeda mastermind.

My initial thought was great, with all that evidence they should put him on trial properly. But the more I read, the more he sounded like a serial confesser. Do you think he really was responsible for all the things he has admitted? Would the confession stand up in a normal court of Law?

Must admit I thought the same thing. It's like '9/11? that was me. That shoe bomber thing? - that was me as well, the bali bombing - me, hurricane katrina - yup me again. Basically it was all me, me, me'.
Ultimately he could be reponsible for all, some, or none of it. I don't think they'll ever know for sure.
as this confession was taken behind closed
doors, without any lawyers present,
also allegations of torture,
can we really trust bush & co to give us
truthful & honest statements on the subject of terrorism, they have not exactly got a glowing record in ths department have they.
and as you say gromit, he does seem like a bit of a serial confessor, probably to project
himself as a more influencial person than he
really is.
what we need is a proper trial ,
not a kangaroo court.
Guantanamo has done the West absolutely no favours at all. Even if the government does come out out with a gleeful "See we were right to keep him all this time", a lot of people are going to shrug their shoulders and wonder whether it was a confession drawn out with torture. If there is to be justice he needs to be brought to trial, and not murky closed door hearings.
apprently he's confessed to things that never happened. I'm pretty sceptical. But I suppose if he's trickled out confessions over the years he's kept a few interrogators nicely tied up, which may be what he was after.
i thought 9/11 was a conspiracy.well according to a lot of do gooders it was.........
I'd either confess to all or commit suicide if I was at Gauntanamo.
