'Evil did exist; she'd seen it in the eyes of the killers, now those crude drawings of demons with horns and glowing red eyes had made sense.' A simple quote has shaped what I believe to be my one goal in life. It may sound stupid to think that by reading that book, I found the one ambition I truly desire to reach. Profiling serial killers is more than just what it may seem, there's a more demanding, hard-hitting world, which many may believe as a fragment of self-belief and willingness. But to me, it's more than that. I believe that I have the willingness and determination to overcome any hurdles in my path to success. I understand the mental and physical strain that my dream requires but I think that it is achievable.
Through A-level Psychology, I have gained an understanding into the interactions between humans and particularly built upon my fascination into the abnormality and attachment sections of the course. Looking at the diagnosis of illness and the symptoms associated through it, has truly influenced my desires to learn more about the criminal and psychopathic minorities and the factors influencing them, their desires towards their crimes and the motivations behind them. Sociology has taught me more about the jurisdiction system, criminal influences and gender and ethnic differences in crime, leaving me with the basis on which to accommodate my understanding and further knowledge about criminal influences in crime. Overall I have enjoyed getting involved and contributing to the issues and debates in Psychology and Sociology, gaining a significant insight needed to influence my choices and decisions in and around my chosen courses.
