Frenzy over McCann case - <rant>
Following on from the Ben Needham thread. This McCann girl's life is deemed to be worth so much more than any other victim of crime. WHY?
Also, she is being treated with way too much familiarity (everyone calling her Little Maddie, like they know her personally - ugh) and people are donating money to god knows what in reality. All caught up in the media circus, it seems.
If she has been abducted (still not entirely convinced) and the perpetrator does still have her alive, she's unlikely to see the light of day until all the hubbub has quietened right down (whereupon she'd be much more likely be spotted).
Personally, I'm feeling really uncomfortable about just about every aspect of this girl's disappearance. From the actions of the parents and their conflicting reports of the circumstances, to the current sick-inducing reaction of the public and their blood lust to lynch someone/anyone, at the potential expense of leading the investigation away from the real offender.
I can't help thinking that the excessive press coverage and bleeding heart public are impeding the investigation and compounding the problem, not helping. The whole campaign seems to me like an over-staged guilt reaction on the part of the family.
I just wish they'd find her to put an end to all this.
Thoughts anyone?
