Gay promotion in schools.

MEP fights 'gay' books for schools
Books illustrating gay relationships are becoming part of the school curriculum under the new Sexual Orientation Regulations Act.
Titles such as 'The Sissy Duckling', 'Hello Sailor' and 'Daddy's Room mate' are recommended by Government departments for children aged 5 upwards.
One shows pictures of two males in bed together and cuddling on a sofa whilst 'Elmer' in 'The Sissy Duckling' is promoted as "a terrific role model for any child" on a Government website.
'Strange Boy' aimed at secondary stage pupils contains an explicit description of a homosexual act between two boys aged 10 and14 years old.
UKIP MEP Derek Clark described the books as "completely unsuitable" and said he was "appalled" at the decision by some local authorities to use the books.
"How is it in any way suitable for schools to promote under age homosexual acts?" asked Mr Clark, himself a teacher of 39 years.
"Schools should be concentrating on teaching children how to read and write. Is it any surprise that the UK has some of the worst rates of literacy in Europe when our teachers are having to spend their time promoting gay rights to youngsters?"
The new regulations could see schools compelled to promote gay rights in the curriculum rather than counter threats of legal action from gay activists.
I find this extremely alarming and I'm sure the majority of others will too. This sort of politically correct brainwashing ill-serves our children.

Am I the only one who found the original post hilarious?
As a homosexual male, I have to say that although I'm all for sweeping out homophobia (which I've had my fair share of), it's always seemed a trifle odd to really pride a certain sexual orientation - I mean, it's a sexual orientation. All it is is what melts your butter, for christ's sake...

Like some others I am confused about the terminology used here..eg 'promotion'.
I thought that 'promotion' was an act of selling a product. Surely we aren't talking about selling a gay lifestyle to a child who isn't, and who will never be, gay? let us say the child in question IS gay..it would be like selling sand to the sheiks!
I find the idea of people thinking a child can be 'encouraged' or 'turned' gay ridiculous in the extreme. To all the heterosexual folk out there..when did you realise you were straight? I for one have always known..and the same can be said for homosexuals.
As far as I am aware none of my kids are gay ~ however they all know there are gay people in the world and they accept it as part of life. Reading a book about 'my two dads' or whatever isn't going to change their sexuality at all.

"normal is the act between male and female which takes place so as to propagate, and before anyone accuses me of being a religious bigot, I am not infering that it should only take place when one wishes to produce a child I am not, but this is what we have always classed as the normal sex act, and the male and female bodies are so designed (for a better word) for this act to safely take place".
AOD
It may come as news to you but many 'straight' people indulge in sexual acts that are in no way going to assist in the procreation of children. On your own and 69 come to mind immediately. Surely you are not suggesting that even when not trying to impregnate the female, heterosexuals should only indulge in one type of intercourse. If you are then I am very sorry for you and partners as you are missing out on a lot of fun that is very safe
Ps who is we?

what some of the homophobes here fail to realise it that their opinion and feelings on this matter are irrelevant to all but their family and friends.
they can gnash their teeth, wring their hands and repeat over and over parrott fahsion - ''its not normal, its not normal'' - all they like - for the rest of their lives if they like - but it will have absolutely zilch effect on the issue of homosexuality - you CANNOT stop it, or cause it, or ban it - so why not just accept it as a FACT of life that is NOT going away.
the point is, homosexuality exists and it always has and always will - your dislike for it is your own business.
instead of stamping your feet and opposing it, just allow people to become educated to the world - you are all old enough to know by now that banning things rarely works and actually just creates an underground scene, often causing more problems due to extreme ignorance of the facts.
discussing issues that are related does NOT ''promote'' or encourage someone to be gay anymore that having a chat about killing someone is going to promote or encourage murder - otherwise all newspapers should be banned shouldn't they...as they are full in of depth stories about murder - what if i feel ''encouraged'' to kill someone?
knowledge is power and giving young people power over their futures can only be a good thing - ignorance just breeds more ignorance and potentially disasterous complications

oooh hammerhead good one...?
yeah you sure showed us with that one...! (jeez)
however, people are not ''just'' talking about these things are they?
they are going on about abnormality, and disgust and gods way, and aids, and all sorts of gay bashing ''burn them all'' type nonsense - or hadn't you noticed?
so your pitiful little hissy fit really doesn't wash.

ruby27 - I dont particularly 'need' to know
What I need is air to breathe , a salary to pay the mortgage , a long holiday on a hot beach in the caribbean somewhere .
The reason for my question is as stated in the final line of my post .
Anyone can ask a question about any poster - can't they ?
It is up to that person to answer if they choose to - just like sp1814 did when he was asked sometime ago , what his ethinc origin was - and he volunteered the information
Pray , tell me what exactly is he being subjected to ?

NJOK Lets try again shall we?
Normal : Usual, Typical,
So homosexuallity is usual behavior? NO
So homosexuallity is typical behavior? NO

I was describing what is the normal sex act, and I do not need you to inform me that many straight people indulge in sex acts that are in no way going to assist in the procreation of children. These are not other types of intercourse as you wrongly pointed out, these other practices are just sexual deviations.
Who is we? = The majority.
LeChat So when we talk about gayness, we tend to automatically think of men and brush over the lesbian issue and imagery as if it is not as potent to our sensibilities.
That is very true the reason being that the vile act of sodomy is not involved.
Female homosexuality has never been illegal.

Sodomy is anything but 'vile'. By that logic, I could proclaim vaginal sex as 'vile' because of my feelings towards it.
Hammer Head: Asking you to support your views or challenging them is anything but intolerant. In fact it merely gives you an oppurtunity to strengthen them. If someone finds a valid criticism with your argument, that's a long way from being repressive, it's simply reason.
anotheoldgit: May I ask exactly what your position is? I know you've stated it earlier in the thread, but it's kind of gotten lost in the white heat of debate...
[and I still need someone to tell me how to format text...]

AOD. You are right and wrong. When I used intercourse I did so in a sentence that implied sexual which could only mean the act that is often used for the procreation of children, but to be picky the word intercourse on its own (and I didnt in the sentence use sexual) does mean communication or exchange between individuals
So we means the majority and you have undertaken research into the sexual behavior and have the facts to prove you beliefs I think not because all research undertaken in this areas demonstrates that most sexually active people do act in ways that they believe are perfectly normal but you think is deviant. I would suggest you are definitely in the minority.
Perhaps the peado's should be allowed their rights and say too in schools? asks youngmafbog. Just look into your crystal ball as abhorrent as this may seem, it will come about. I dont think the behavior between consenting 16+s should in any way be referenced to the abusive acts of an adult towards a child. What is the connection? Behaviors that involve the exploitation by someone who is more powerful because of age, gender, family relationship and or professional relationship towards someone who is vulnerable is abuse, not a consenting relationship you might as well say that people who neglect their children should be allowed to air their views in school. Totally different issues.
Kromovaracun - sorry can not help as what you are asking is too technical

Why I was asking if SP1814 was only subject to this I have only noticed people being asked such details when another poster believes the geographical location, occupation, sexual orientation results in the first poster having a bias and I have always read into this that then the person from the south knows nothing about immigration issues first hand, the social worker loves pedophiles and black and ethnic minorities whilst hating the British (all white), any one whose political viewpoint is left of New Labour is the loony left. It is if they can be categorized then their viewpoint/perspective can be discredited.

I support Manchester City.
Is that typical behaviour? No.
Is it usual behaviour? No.
Do the majority of people agree with it? No.
Here's the address of my local library:
Hammersmith Library
Shepherds Bush Road
Hammersmith
W6 7AT
You might want to ask them to remove copies of 'Manchester City FC: 125 Years of Football' by Gary James, 'Lows, Highs and Balti Pies: Manchester City Ruined My Diet' by Steve Mingle and 'Colin Bell - Reluctant Hero: The Autobiography of a Manchester City and England Legend' by Ian Cheeseman.
Just in case any kids happen to go in there...
For the rest of you, apologies if my vile behaviour disgusts you. Bring the pitchforks and burning torches, and I'll see you at the library for opening time.

Sorry - I went out to dinner last night...I wasn't ignoring your question.
Yes, indeed I am gay. Fully paid up member since 1966.
The reason I always argue the toss in 'gay-related' posts is that I'm pretty well versed in the issue. I passed my Gay Levels back in 1985 (I even did well on the tricky Barbara Streisand multiple choice section).
