Is it inherited? I've just washed my hair and found what I think was my first grey hair. My mum started to go grey in her early 30s after having me and my brother so given that I have recently given birth and turned 27 last week, have I got grounds to be worried? Can I expect to have a full head of grey hair in 5 years time? I'm having a distrubing vision of me looking like Ken's fancy piece in Coronation St!!!
Hello helli, Congratulations on baby, enjoy being a mum, you probably will go grey quite young, but don't worry about it, your hubby and baby won't mind, whatever you do don't dye it jet black when you are 60, take care helli, good to see your name. xx
My mum started to go grey in her 20's and sure enough I did too...started with just the odd hair and has stayed just around my temples, this has been over the last 5yrs or so. I'm 30 now and have still only got a few and my mum isn't completely grey yet (54yrs) hers has just stayed around the front too! So it'll probably take ages before you find anymore and YEARS to go totally!!
Thanks ray, am well and truly single now, so not too worried about anyone else minding my grey hair, unless my son objects to it!
Lovely to see you on here too. xxx
Hello helli, I never knew that, hope you are ok, your son won't mind one little bit, he will just be glad to have such a lovely mum, take care and good luck with baby xx
My hair started to go grey before I was 20, only a little at first but by the time I was in my 30s it was pretty much all grey. i used to dye it but to be honest it's such a fag keeping the roots done so since my early 40s I have just let it be. It's very much me and I'm happy with it although I have threatened to have it coloured (my hairdresser reckons I'd be back every other week and has strongly advised agianst it). Interestingly my eldest son is going grey in much the same way so I guess it must be inherited
I'm doing ok thanks ray, have a beautiful little boy to keep me going. x
bensmum, I think grey hair looks fab on the right person, but sadly, that isn't me. Plus, I remember a French teacher at school who had long scratty grey hair and she looked like a witch. I don't want to look like a witch :(
I'm sure you could never look like a witch....you would look distinguished!!
Break out a box of Clairol Nice & Easy and forget about it, your son couldn't give a t*ss if your hair is grey, pink or purple, just a great & gorgeous mummy!!
Thank you silver_fox that's very sweet of you to say so. And clever little me has just this minute put two and two together and worked out why your name is silver_fox!! Doh!
The thing that bothers me most, is that my sister obviously got my dad's gene's and hasn't got a single grey hair yet and he didn't have any till he was about 45!
Hi Helliebobs, my hair started going grey very very slowly about 10 years ago, the odd hair here and there but about 3 years ago, i was noticing more and more, (could be something to do with my son lol) so now i just colour mine as soon as the roots come through. We have all had this problem in my family, my eldest brother was totally grey by the age of 30! I dont worry about it so long as we have hair dyes!
