common assault

I have been charged with common assault & awaiting trial. I was having a row with my g/friend and she started to self harm after an argument. Two eye witnesses saw and although my g/friend told the police her injuries were self inflicted and I was merely restraining her from doing any serious harm to herself the police are prosecuting with the eye witnesses evidence! which has obviously been misinterpreted. My g/friend was originally on the prosecuting side because she refused to make a statement and now because she made a statement has been put on my defence. Its all abit crazy!
