It's always worth taking a bomb with you onto a plane - you're much safer that way. The chances against TWO people on the same flight both having a bomb must be astronomical.

One of the major behavioural problems that afflict society is the apparent inability of people to realise that actions have consequences. Thsi may be partly blamed on TV, where bad behaviour carries on with impunity. Here in the real world, people neverf think as far ahead as the consequences of what they do and say. rationally, you will be detained and maybe arrested if you 'joke' about bombs in airports, but there will always be some people who simply don't look ahead to what will happen if they try it. You can't rationalise this behaviour - it isn't rational, if we can educate people that freedom carries responsibility, this kind of nonsense - but don't hold your breath!

I once read an article that stated that five people do this every week in UK airports. I'm sure that less people do it now but I really can't fathom why people would think this was in any way funny in the current climate.

andy: isn't it the american way to relinquish all sense of causality and responsibility? Is that not the entire litigation society is about: blaming everybody else for something no matter what - like the woman suing macdonalds when she slipped on a split drink - a drink that was spilt when she threw it at her boyfriend.... when there's movement towards such irresponsibility as this, I'm hardly surprised that people are beginning to lose all sense of the link between their actions and the repercussions. I truly believe anybody that stupid (to joke about bombs in today's world) should be banned from all air travel. For life. Maybe we should ban them from having passports too? It takes a whole 60 seconds of effort to be sensible for the time it takes to have your bag x-ray'd and walk through a metal-detector, and don't even get me started on the hoards of people too stupid to not remove their keys from their pocket when walking through them, who then look sheepish as if they didn't know - DUH! Right, rant over.... in general, people are stupid. I agree :-)
