Why wasn't the art colleges/schools throughout the land given a chance to design a logo, and the nation given a chance to vote for the best?
Prize money for the designer and a lump sum for their establishment, this would have been a lot cheaper than it has now cost.

Yay - managed to sign it at long last!
My comments were:
"I think the new London 2012 Olympics logo is awful.
Not only do the zig zags remind me of the ones I get when I have a migraine, I think it's very amatuer.
I bet some 5 year olds could design something more professional & for free!
How about a red, white & blue one?!"

I love the way its being described as modern. It looks like something out of the eighties if you ask me...in fact kinda reminds me of the whydontyou titles.

Being honest, I actually don't mind it HOWEVER, I do like AOGs idea of getting schools / design colleges / talented individuals to come up with some ideas, have a short list and then maybe a tv program that will allow a vote to take place (ensuring only one vote per unique telephone number to stop a 'silly' logo winning as a joke) - this would also raise money for the games.
I also feel that 400,000 could be far better spent.

Ah come on guys........
'It symbolises the Olympic spirit and the ability of the Games to inspire people to take part' quote for the 2012 web site.
Personally I think it cost about 40 quid to design on an etch-a-sketch or magnadoodle with the remaining 399,960 going into the pocket of one of Lord Coe's chums.
