if a off licience sells to under 18 whats the max fine

All three are an offence (tobacco under 16).

Fines are dicated by the borough council if they administer the licensing, or the Magistrate if it goes to court.

I believe the maximum fine is loss of licence and �6000.

I think it's increased recently although I may be wrong. I was under the impression the max was around a �20,000 fine and a possible prison sentence (to be paid/served by the person who sold the alcohol, not the licencee, although they may loose their licence too).

The person who sold the offending item will receive a fixed penalty of �80. The owner/licensee will only lose their licence after three incidents. This is according to a police officer and is in relation to selling alcohol to a minor.

I work in a newsagents and if we sell Lottery,Scratchcards or Cigarettes to underage people we the assistant gets a 2000 pound fine dont know if the shop gets done though

The maximum fine for the licensee is level 5 on the standard scale (currently �5000) along with the possible revocation of the licence.

If police discover an under-18 to be in possession of alcohol, they will seize it. Those under age who buy alcohol face a �50 fine.

Adults acting as proxy-purchasers for minors face an �80 penalty.
