Uniforms with softer colours

Immigration officers should wear uniforms with softer colours, when deporting families, says a Home Office review.
You just could not make it up, it is almost as bad as a recent press report I read, that Police were to hand out fruit flavoured lolly-pops to drunken revellers when they spill out onto the streets. The hope is that these lolly-pops will somehow have a calming effect, on these drunken oafs.
It would seem that either the immates have taken over the Asylum, or every day in Britain is April 1st.

Actually, the lollipop idea seemed to work: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/oxfordshire /6358519.stm
Why dismiss ideas as "PC gone mad" or "April fool jokes" without actually looking at results.
Still, far better to moan about the state of the country than support ideas that may actually work.

Compared to the same period in 2005, the figures for assaults, drunk and disorderly and public order incidents, show that last Christmas they fell by 10%."
Hardly proof that it was all down to the lolly-pops. To compare figures over a short Christmas period to another short Christmas period is no proof whatsoever. There could have been numourous factors brought into it, weather, police presence etc, etc.
Show me proof that there is a regular drop in the assaults, drunks and disorderly and public order incidents in our cities, towns, villages and coastal resorts at the weekends, due entirely to the lolly-pops then I will believe it.
Oneeyedvic Who Loves You Now Baby ?
NJOK No the birch is too good for them. Bring the water cannons out, that will cool them down as well as washing down the vomit and urine.

And of course, if they spent lots of money researching this fact, then you would moan that they are wasting more tax payers money.
Nice to pick out the quotes that help you - did you miss the Research has shown that sugar in the lollipops helps stabilise the behaviour of people who have consumed alcohol.
Do you want more research to be done? How much research until you are happy?
Will you ever accept any statistics that make your opinion wrong? Somehow I doubt it.

Just one more quote that suits me. So they haven't actually spent any money on reserching the fact? Just spent tax payers money buying lolly-pops eh?
Regarding sugar 's effect on alcohol, doesn't this actually increase the alcohol content of drinks, and if I was remiss enough to miss the research that actually shows that sugar helps stabilise the behaviour of people who have consumed alcohol, then why doesn't the vasts amount of sugar in Alcohol-Pops help to stabilise this drunken behaviour, instead of increasing it ?
NJOK why not use anecdotal evidence from the police themselves? If they say it helps to pacify drunken behaviour, shouldn't we listen to them?
Anecdote Evidence is often unscientific because it cannot be investigated using scientific methods.
So no in this instance I do not think we should listen to the Police.
If they were to say that a bash on the head with a baton, helps to pacify drunken behaviour, should we not then also listen to them?

Alright AOG - if it makes you happy, ignore the fact that research was done, ignore the trial which appears to be successful - just carry on moaning about how it is PC gone mad, that it is all ridiculous or that the inmates have taken over the asylum.
There seems little point in debating with you - you are obviously not able to listen to facts and reason - your opinion is far too important.
