What is wrong with that ?
There is a crisis with overcrowding in the prisons - not enough have been built over the years , for whatever reason .
There is always an outcry from the public when offenders are not sent to prison , but given suspended sentences etc .
If as a society we want 99% of offenders to be banged up then we have got to come up with some short term solutions , whils't longer term solutions are considered .
As I understand it , the people being let out ,'early' are being only allowed to go under license - up to 2 weeks earlier than normal - and they are not murderers / rapists etc
As to one of the postings above - are you really suggesting that if an offender is going to commit another offence , that releasing him/her 2 weeks earlier will make any difference ?
