How about outsourcing the job to another country, preferably one that has proper prisons. I understand that it costs apprx 40000 to keep a prisoner for a year. So what about paying, say Turkey for example 20000 per man per year for offenders serving over say 3 months. They'd snap our arm off, we'd have our prisoners in the sort of prisons that they would not want to return to and we'd save a fortune into the bargain. Also we'd not have to bother building new prisons. I can't see the downside!

that gets my vote!!

as simple as your idea is, i think it makes practical sense!

the downside is....Australia. Want another one in a few decades? Just think of where you'd house the backpackers? There aren't enough pub jobs in the world mate.

They're like the WI on Acid.

Good idea LH - it worked with our call centres.
Well Loosehead,if this fantasy ever came true which of course it wont you would have thousands of Ex-Prisoners returning to the UK hell bent on revenge..!
here .For those who couldnt cope with the Barbaric Turkish prisons ,perhaps we could fork out millions to build Mental Hospitals..which kinda defeats the object.
would you like to be responsible for what happens next?
Downside ..Plenty....(:O)
No! No! Let's send them to the moon!

Wake up, kids.

well thanks for your answers everyone, we seem mostly to concur! Vinny, what I want to acheive is prisoners comming home hell bent on not going back to prison. Our holiday camps are not a punishment.
