The Islamabad thing, Pakistani security forces (?) assaulting the Red Mosque, and of course as you would expect from a country like that, there have been many deaths.

Could it happen here ?

Yes, not only could it, but it will. I am not going to parrot the tired Wake Up Britain, because it is too late. Hisslam is here, and growing. Our latest mistake ? - awarding a knighthood to Salman Rushdie. Al Qaeda will take deadly vengeance on us for this insult to Hisslam. These people are not real.

(Oh yes they are, don't kid yourself matey).

When/if you answer, could you indicate if you have read the Koran, even an imperfect English rendition, and what you think of it.

Nah, - that couldn't hapen in this country, we're too civilised for that. It just wouldn't go on, ever.
The background to this hasn't been widely reported but I understand it dates back more than a year.
"Could it happen here?"
It's unlikely that our authorities would have allowed the situation to reach a siege state. So, unlikely.
Hmmm, now would i want to read the koran?
Its like asking a muslim if they have read playboy magazine...
I think most Muslims have had a sly swift one to Playboy whilst their wives are hanging out the burkhas on the washing line.
giving Rushdie was a mistake? I suppose we should allow al-Qaida to vet the Queen's honours lists, then? Excellent idea.
BBC NEWS ? Where was this then ?
The majority of British muslems have not read the Koran either, because it is in Arabic and they cannot read that. So they get their interpretation of the Islamic scriptures from Koranic scholars. Unfortunately tthe majority of these scholars are based in far off lands and do not understand our culture, and the interpretations they make are flawed to say the least.

The Red Mosque incident is more to do with Musharraf desperately trying to cling to power than of any great religous significance. If there was an attack on the authority of the rule of our government in the UK, the target of authority would not be a mosque, so it would not happen here.

The Bible, Tanakh and Koran are virtually identical in their early rendition (old testament story) of the history of the world. This is where in each book most of the smiting and killing and barbarism takes place (all in the name of God, Allah etc). If you can condemn the Koran, then you must concede that the Bible and Tanakh are also condemnable.
