Did the Police over-react with this bottom pinching incident?

Quote from the web site:
He said a female Channel 4 producer called 999 as she chased after Mr Burdett following the incident.
"I was outside and saw her make the call as she was running after Rufus', he said. "He escaped, but then five police cars turned up. It was ridiculous."

To answer your question though dialling 999 because someone grabbed someones arse because they were on camera which lets face it is the only reason he did it, is absurd. Would the police come on a sturday night if I phoned them up in a pub and said some geezer had just felt me up ? Actually they dont come round here if smeone is trying to break into your house so I very much doubt it.

You'll all be pleased that after thinking about this, I now have an opinion (hang out the bunting, start waving flags).
I think that the amount of police time (as originally reported) was way over the top. If I lived in the local area and had, say, been burgled - I'd be furiousthat the police were spending time on this rather than more serious issues.
However, on the other hand, as Gromit posted yesterday, fellas - if you were walking down the street, and some complete stranger (another bloke) grabbed your butt - wouldn't you mete out some 'response'?

See if another girl (stranger) pinched my bottom the only response I would mete out would be a slightly open mouth and a rather puzzled look on my face. Possibly some blushing.
It wouldn't occur to me to give her a verbal bashing... or indeed any other form of bashing.
But blokes doing it to blokes?! Could get nasty. Although....
Perhaps you could all go out, find a strangers bottom, pinch it and come back and let me know what the outcome was? Oh go on!

I'm in 2 minds: on one hand, it's hardly the crime of the century and I wish I had that sort of support from the police rather than "here's a crime number" (over the phone) when some moron put through my car window; on the other, he did something he knew was a bit naughty on camera and deserves some sort of punishment.
Whilst a bottom pinch may not be a "serious" assault, where does "serious" start? Groping someone's bottom? Breasts? Genitalia? He touched someone in an unwanted fashion, whichever way you look at it.
BTW, going back to the boobies/20p story earlier: it may not be "legally" a sexual assault, but it would certainly be sexually motivated - would a heterosexual guy bet another 20p that he could make his bottom cheeks wobble and pull the same trick?

Actually, the reason that I think bottom pinching is terrible is because it takes me back several years to when I was a teenager and instead of pinching my bum the man pinched my sanitary towel. I've never been so embarrassed in all my life and for this reason alone it should be banned! Imagine that you men out there!
