Film examines Daily Mail diet
"A documentary-maker has tried to find out whether we are what we read by giving up all news sources except the Daily Mail."
Surely he could save himself the bother and just spend a few days on AB?

Gromit - do you believe that? If as is suggested, there is an effort to terrify it's readership, wouldn't that be counterproductive in sales? Perhaps there's a fine line between terrifying and keeping people informed of unpalatable truths, for certainly if one reads the Mirror, you would sail through life in blissful ignorance of our more pressing problems.
That's just my opinion...

The thing is, I can't really see how it would work.
If you're the sort of person that believes that the Daily Mail is written in the devil's rancid seed (which it most certainly is), your 'Daily-Mail Alarm' would be going AWOOOGA the whole time. At what point would you suddenly start start buying into their take on the world?
And presumably a Mail reader forced to read the Guardian would feel exactly the same way.

NikkiB, it wouldn't be counter-productive in sales. Quite the opposite. It allows them to paint themselves as a beacon of truth, or a saviour in frightening times.
It's similar to the rise of the politics of fear. Once upon a time, politicians held onto power by selling people a dream, a vision of a better future. In the last two decades, this has been replaced entirely (and not just in the UK) by a far more sinister tactic in which they talk up the horrifying threats that are out to get us so that we look to our leaders as protectors. It's stultifyingly negative, but for the time being people are buying it.

I really do not know what all the fuss is about.
I read The Daily Mail and I have a very open minded and liberal outlook on the world. Yes, it clearly follows right wing dictum, but I can assure you the BBC is more left than the Daily Mail is right. And as the BBC is by far Britains largest news provider, I have issue with this.
I actually proposed that the looney Taliban-loving, pro-criminal vegetarian brigade on here should buy the Daily Mail a while back (now banned forever sadly) and not one communist took me up on it.
It is all very well moaning about the paper, but how many have actually purchased it and then compared a controversial article with say, The Observer? Very few, if any I'll bet.
The Daily Mail is simply aimed at intellectual people who are clearly above The Sun and The Star but do not have the time or effort to read The Telegraph or The Guardian.
There are never any boobs in The Daily Mail and gossip about Big Brother and other crap, is thankfully limited to a page at the most.
Overall, the best newspaper money can buy, with a neo-right liberal outlook.

I've read the Daily Mail in the past. In fact I still have to buy it more or less every day for my Mum (who claims that she likes it 'because it's girly'). Frankly, I detest it.
Interestingly, Northcliffe - the Mail's founder - said that it was his intent to provide his readers with a 'daily hate'. How touching to see that his tradition has been carried on all these years...
It's also interesting that several of the Daily Mail journalists (for example Littlejohn) have backgrounds writing for 'newspapers' such as the Express, and even the Sun...
I don't see how this experiment could tell us anything we don't allready know.

Shadow Man
When Mylene Klass went into hospital to give birth to her daughter, The Daily Mail chose the following picture to illustrate the story...http://www.mailwatch.co.uk/ (go down to August 17th).
Boob-free environment?
I think not.

Well I have just scanned my entire Daily Mail and can confirm there are no boobies in their at all.
SP, is that a website calling for the banning of certain newspapers? If it is, what has the world come to? I hope the creators of such communist propaganda gat blown to pieces whilst crying for their mummy by the very same terrorists they so love. Pathetic, really pathetic.
