Why are these necessary when we are constantly being told to ignore a person's colour? If there were to be awards for Music of White Origin or White Entertainment TV, they would be construde as racist.

Rhianna??? pah!
AOG ~ I give you that one. However classical music cannot be counted as it isn't regarded as chart mainstream. Unless you count Pavarotti, and he was a singer..not a composer. And I still wouldn't class him as a mainstream recording artist.
My head still hurts..

I kind of get it now. So it's not about an award for a 'black person', it's an award which celebrates a genre of music that was originally created by black people/culture??
I can understand it, but what I think is, possibly, that just saying the tables were turned and we wanted to celebrate the origins of white music and create an award ceremony for this (regardless of whether it was a white or a black person up for the award), in this country, in this day and age where racism has become such a HUGE ISSUE, it would most definitely have to be called something else so as not to upset people from other races/cultures.
For example I truly don't believe it would be able to be called 'Music of White Origin Awards', and I think that's quite simply due to the fact that the whole PC thing in this country has gone crazy.
