what do others think ?
It really makes my blood boil to read yet another "millionaire" is funding the McCanns! Why are they so special in terms of being parents of missing children? What about all the other missing children? Why do they deserve everyones pity when others are long forgotten? What about the �1m in the Madeleine fund that they "wont" or "cant" use? Is that in a high interest rate account somewhere earning lots of interest to be creamed off?They both have jobs Why don't they go back to work and earn some money like all the others

I have so far refrained from speculating on this case because I don't think we know enough about the facts and evidence.
However during the last week my stance has altered slightly due mainly to the obvious efforts of Clarence Mitchell. We have had a week of press releases that have been nothing to do with Madeleine and all to do with the McCanns' image.
These reports have contained iimplausible therories, witnesses changing their stories, mysterious witnesses who wish to remain anonymous and even some outright lies.
This is making me now wonder if they have something to hide.
I would also say that just because an investigation is being made into them does not mean that the police have stopped following other lines of enquiry. That would certainly be the case in this country where several lines of enquiry would be persued at the sametime.

The McCanns are "special" because of the huge publicity machine they have built up. Donations to them will get far more publicity than a "quiet" donation to other causes. It's a winner if you are rich and want to look good.

I just wanted to let you know that i agree with every word you have said. I have been on this forum and various other forums trying to get the points you made across, but each time I have been shot down by the rabid lynch mob who are not prepared to accept that anyone other than the parents are responsible for Madeleines disappearance.
They wont listen to anyone who dares criticise the PJ. Tou will probably be accused of being zenophobic and reported . I will watch to see what develops as you engage with some of these people. The Daily Mirror forum is particularly bad. I think SOME - NOT ALL of these people are unhinged. I respect anyones right to have an opinion , but the viciousness aimed at the McCanns take my breath away. And some people cant tell the difference between an allegation and OFFICIAL EVIDENCE, I warn you , you have unleashed a monster here.

The horrible thing I'm worried about is if ( a big if) the parents are found responsible, are we going to have folk here smugly saying " I told you so!"?......yes that'll be a fabulous victory!!
I personally don't believe the couple had anything to do with their daughter's disappearance, their only crime was leaving the children alone in the room. That decision will haunt them for the rest of their lives and my heart truly goes out to them.

and yes, it seems that the Portugese police acted very badly and do themselves no favours with their silence but as regards the parents

Is it any wonder that given all the publicity, all the people involved, The Pope, Milllonaires, Goverment officials quiting their jobs etc etc, that there is so much speculation attached to this case.

Regarding the MaCanns being irresponsible parents for leaving their children alone. Even after all the publicity this case has been given, there are still some parents that have not taken matters onboard.
Two examples of this I have witnessed myself recently. One, I was waiting outside a stores changing room, while my wife tried a dress on, when I saw a little girl running around looking for her parents. (In this day and age one cannot approach a child to offer any aid). Fortunately she was soon to be re-united with her parents, who apparently had been that busy looking through the racks of clothes that they had not noticed their child had wandered off.
In the other example, I had dropped my wife off at the supermarket entrance, while I parked up to wait for her seeing she only wanted a couple of items.
I sat in my car listening to the radio when I noticed in the car by the side of me, a child of about 3 years old standing on the front seat, talking to a much younger child that was in a childs seat in the back. There was no sign of an adult in the car. Actually B00, they have said "I have no sympathy for them and it serves them right, the only person I feel sorry for is Maddy!." That sentence has happened so many times its unbelievable.

Why waste precious time searching for a lost a bewildered little girl when we have much softer targets to castigate and villify; especially because they have the temerity to behave in a manner which we can be sure WE wouldn't when faced with this unthinkable situation. Fancy being middle class parents !!! The bl00dy nerve..............how dare they frantically use every avenue open to them, when what they ought to do is sit quiet and hang their heads because, after all, it was their fault in the first place ..........

Also, whilst I think about it, I also lost teen Boo as a toddler in our local Co Op, one minute she was with me, next she'd gone. I was frantic until I found her in the chilled section on the floor with a tub of marge eating it. Does that make me a bad parent?
You can't compare losing sight of your children in public places to deliberately leaving them alone in a room whilst you go for a meal.
No one has said that they agree with what the Mccanns did (least I don't think they did) in leaving those children alone. However I do seem to be in a minority in kicking this couple when they are so obviously down.

'Why them?.
I think its because its looking more and more like the Portugese Police are trying to fit them up, and these Millionaires are helping to redress the injustice done to the Mcanns.
As has already been said, we don't know if they are guilty or not, but all the way through, I have believed their innocence, and these donors obviously believe that too.
