Someone has already pointed out that morrocan women do have mosuy brown hair and why is the picture still grainy? Surely it could have been enhanced - how long would it take for a professional to do that? 10 mins?

Why does everyone think that it is easy to "go to the Police" in a foreign country. For a start do you know the emergency no, it's not 999 but 112 (I think, but not sure). Do you speak enough French for the Moroccan Police to understand you? and do you not all realise that missing Maddie is not such a big thing abroad. Even on my little island I very much doubt that a) the police have heard of her, well maybe vaguely, and b) they probably wounldn't do much in a hurry (if at all) I would contact the British Embassy if I was prepared enough to have their number with me. And as for following Moroccan peasants, you take your life in your hands doing that.

Net - if the person who took the pic was that concerned couldnt they have rung home and passed on what they had seen to a family memebr who calls 999? Do that in a couple of hours give your approx location, sounds easy enough to me

Rev. she was a Spanish woman, and as previously reported, the Spanish police aren't that bothered. You are thinking in the English way, this doesn't happen in most of Europe. And as for tracing the family, they are nomads, probably no papers, no id's. Who knows where they go. They camp and decamped anywhere. A totally different way of existence to what we understand.

What if they had just 'shut up' and hung their heads in shame, as a lot of the 'grumblies' have urged them to...........?
I fail to see how some folks can interpret the McCanns campaign as being all 'ME, ME ME'............and as some sort of media circus. I don't know how I would have reacted in the same situation and neither, thank god, do the grumblies.

However, I think that the best way of proving if any child child spotted IS Maddie is to telephone the newsdesk of one of the 'big' newspapers...............then there would be cameramen, reporters, et al, trying to establish if they have indeed scooped the other papers !

Good point Boo, but if Maddie was abducted to go to a new family, I think they will be rich and intelligent enough to change her looks. I don't think she would have been passed on to a Moroccan peasant family. I think that all the publicity will have definitely made any abductor much more careful about keeping her in hiding or changing her appearance.

Unfortunately, I think the McCanns have hindered rather than helped.

There's nothing wrong with the full version of the picture whatsoever (although it's impossible to determine what the original quality might have been), the bit that shows 'Maddie' in close up is a tiny part of that picture zoomed in.

Whilst there are somethings that can be done using software manipulation, when you're dealing with heavily pixelated images like that, there really is only so much that can be done to improve it.

Stop speculating. It trivialises the whole thing and makes it look like a soap opera. I know the media have conditioned you to do this but try and resist the mind mould eh?

Also, the ghoulish streak this subject raises in some pixels is rarely attractive.

Agree with Lofty. Why would peasants want another child to feed? Hopefully, it's Maddie and hopefully they've found her lost and have adopted her, being peasants they probably can't read or have a tv so wouldn't know about her, so are bringing her up..These type of people have a horror of authority so wouldn't report finding her.

people also seem to forget that if this IS maddie and she IS alive and found, there is going to be some serious apologising and a definate case gainst the people that have tried pinning this on he McCanns.

I have to agree with alot of the comments (Rev etc etc) this could be ANY girl...but...although the picture is grainy (yes it takes minutes to enhance) the little girl does look out of place against the other people, then again we cant be 100% sure until the photo is enhanced.
