How nigh is the end of the world?

We survived 1999/2000. What I wish to know is how long have we got left according to some people's beliefs? When will I witness the 'Rapture'? When will comet 'die allearthlings' smash into the planet? Given that the sun won't go pop for 5 billion years,who says when the big 'goodbye' will occur?And why?

This weekend sees the celebration of the 60th anniversary of D-Day. That anniversary will be on the 6th June, 2004. Now write the numbers down (in your mind is ok) and you get 6.6.2004. Add the year digits together and then you get 666 - The sign of teh Beast. OOER!

Count the number of days between the terrible Twin Towers disaster in New York (11th Sptember, 2001) and the D-Day anniversary and you'll find that it is 999 days. OOER!

Chilling co-incidences? Portents of the apocolypse? A load of baloney? OOER! You decide. Tell me on Monday the 7th!

The truth is that many have guessed the time and date, there are theories galore, but if you choose to believe the Bible (I do) then the answer is no-one knows the time - only God. If you have a modern Bible translation (like NIV) have a look at the whole of Matthew Chapter 24. This explains the signs of the end of the age and what must happen before the return of Jesus and your 'Rapture'. 2 Peter v10 is a bit hairy as it says 'the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar, the elements will be destroyed by fire....now that is ' Whoa!'

I've been thinking though.Maybe this should be posted as a different question but when we use the phrase "the end of the world",it seems to me that we use that to mean "the end of the whole of existance". As a christian i can tel you that the end of the world will come but when man least expects it. In matthew ch 24 vs 34 onwards Jesus describes how the end of man will come but no one knows when except for the father. Therefore the message is make the right choices now cause you never know when the time will come.

SAVE THE EARTH FROM THE HUMANS!! NEVER MIND THE METEORS!! The Witnesses never fail to point out the message in Mathew, ch 24, in fact that is their life's mission. If u look in the Bhagavat Gita, it is said, and this was said over 10,000 yrs ago; that every time there is chaos and complete and utter disregard for human values, then God descends on earth and makes a complete sweep and restores humanity. the earth itself isnot destroyed. According to the Hindu scripture, this has happened at least 9 times already and we are awaiting the 10th coming of God. The Gita is the original Word of God spoken to man directly by Him. see 'The Bhagavat Gita As It Is' by His Divine Grace A C Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. It also says that this is the time of the Kaliyuga ie these r times of total chaos when idiots rule the world, and the rulers themselve uproot all rules of law to establish corruption, chaos and disrespect for human values. As these r the last days, the only prescription by God is devotion to HIM 'cos he understands that in modern times life is such a race and no one has any time for anything elaborate. So the only thing possible in these fast days is devotion by prayer, reading or total, selfless service to those less fortunate. So, hope tht this is of some help. Recent history of the world only confirms the words of God, 'cos He is the all knowing ONE. bye

Jehovah's Witnesses worked out mathematically that the end of the time allotted to man was during 1977. So we are now living in the final days as stated in the Bible. That means the end of the world could come at any time and the J.W.s believe that if you are not one of them you will die and that will be it. Those who die before the last day will get a second chance with resurrection and those still here on the last day of reckoning will live forever. Will there be a rush to join up? I think not, would you like to spend eternity with the J.W.s you know?
