Postal strike!

When is it gonna end. I'm waiting for an important letter to arrive. It should have arrived at the end of last week. I'm so pi$$ed off!

The thing is, when the strike is over they are going to have sh!tloads of mail to deliver,so the backlog will take them at least a week to catch up

They will only take out a certain amount of extra mail each day so don`t hold your breath

This doesn't really affect me in Ireland so I'll play devil's advocate. It seems that they are striking over better pay, improved pensions and job security.

They should get back to work - �20k for a glorified paper round isn't that bad.

My firm has decided to use an alternative to RM, so I can only think their actions are going to lose the PO even more business.

I have sympathy with the strikers, just unfortunate when it affects us personally.

If the mail was "so important" why wasnt an alternative method of delivery found?

It's not like there wasn't notice about the strike, so whats the point in crying about it now?

It won't end until the union have destroyed the company, as they did with the car industry and the mines.

Most of you are talking rubbish! it is about money and pensions, but it's also about saving 40,000 jobs and those left being treated with respect and consideration rather than slaves or pack donkies. Royal mail managent are running the business down, not the union. You might be waiting for letters now but if they have their way, in a couple of years they won't have deliveries - you'll have to pick them up from a shop. And how many of you - the public - can actually use this competition that exists now?. None, and you never will. BTW, who actually delivers the comepetitions mail....us, and for a set price enforced by Ofcom far lower than you'd pay, meaning investment gets paired to the bone.

Is there a postal worker on here who can come on and clarify a few points i.e. pay, the exact reason why they are striking.

It's okay thinking private companies will simply step in, what private company is going to deliver a letter for 30 odd pence?

In answer to your question Reverandfunk, I have had issues with bullying at work. I have been signed off sick from work because of the continued bullying I have had to put up with since last Xmas. Since then I have often had thoughts of ending it all.

I am waiting for mail from my Union. Do not attempt to trivialise my situation by saying that there is no point in crying about it now.

Tigger I sympathise with your situation but if your union knew the mail was so important why didnt they send it an alternative way?

I am also wating on very urgent mail. I wish I had used a private courier.
