Muslim Objections
A friend told me that a news item said that airport worker was suspended for having picture of Jesus in his locker, and it upset fellow worker who was muslim.
Is this true?
I've not seen news today.
If it is true, then ..... gobsmacked!

Car park supervisor Gareth Langmead found the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus as he was clearing out a desk drawer.
Unable to throw the image out, the 40-year-old Catholic hung the picture sacred to many devout Catholics - on the wall of the staff rest room.

But his actions earned him a three-day suspension, after a Muslim colleague complained that it had been put up as an act of provocation.
Mr Langmead was escorted off the airport and was suspended while airport management investigated the complaint.
Mr Langmead, of Atherton, Greater Manchester, was eventually reinstated without a blemish on his record after airport bosses decided he had done nothing wrong.
An airport spokesman said Mr Langmead had not complained about his treatment, but lessons had been learned about the way the situation was handled.
In light of the incident, the airport Chaplain and his team would now work with employees to "foster a greater level of understanding about each others beliefs", the spokesman said.
Mr Langmead's suspension comes weeks after a Hindu airport worker at Heathrow lost her job for wearing a nose stud as part of her religion.
Amrit Lalji, 40, had worked in the VIP lounge of Terminal One for more than a year before she was fired for wearing the tiny stud.
She was reinstated to her post as a customer relations worker after an appeal.
Another Heathrow worker, Nadia Eweida, was suspended for four months for wearing a Christian cross.
She returned to work after the airline agreed to review its uniform policy.

So when a muslem worker finds some pictures of ayallotah's and starts pinning them up, that will be fine will it?
I personally wouldn't want Jesus Christ frowning down on me while I tuck into my Pot Noodle in the staff room, and if Gareth Langmead started ramming his faith down my throat, then I would be quite pleased if this sad person lost his job as Car park supervisor.

Maybe Booldawg or maybe he was a typical "down your throat" fundamentalist Christian.
He was probably looking for a reaction so he could claim persecution to the tabloids.
This is the sort of thing that has the gullible on here posting PC gone mad stories at the drop of a hat.
Instead he's just justified the banning of religious symbolism like crosses in the workplace

Nobody seems to be commenting on this part of the news quote:
Mr Langmead's suspension comes weeks after a Hindu airport worker at Heathrow lost her job for wearing a nose stud as part of her religion.
We do not know the background to this case - there may well have been animosity between the two men, and the Catholic man may well have been knowingly provocative.
Or the Muslim man could have been looking for an excuse to 'have a go' because of personal clashes between the two.
Or he could genuinely have been offended. In which case he needs to address his own conscience.

The stupid thing is that these things escalate to such ridiculous levels.
Surely all that was needed was a quiet word with the person concerned to ascertain that it wasn't a deliberate act of provocation, and to make him aware that these days you can't go sticking up religious imagery willy nilly in the workplace. A quite word from his immediate superior - no disciplinary action whatsoever.
The fact that he has to be escorted from the airport, suspended, and go through some sort of enquiry process just indicates the level of PC inspired paranoia that permeates everything these days.

There is no place for religious artefacts in the workplace, unless of course you work in a place of worship!! A load of fuss over nothing as usual. Hmmm I think I might bring back a big fat Buddha from Thailand and put it on the reception desk at the clinic and see what happens (not that Im a Buddhist!!)
