So the lady is going to be charged in the Sudan.

Never, EVER, EVER again will I contribute even a sou if I think any of it will end up in a half-witted backward black savage Muslim country.

I did wonder if there would be demonstrations on the streets of Britain by moderate Muslims protesting against this supreme JOKE. No, there aren't any and there won't be.

I'll stick with my South American Christian charity for kids.

Coming soon to the Midlands - Hisslam.

RAGGY
I've read the koran, and I refer to it from time to time when I need a good laugh,
I remember the locals on Afghanistan telling us after we invaded that if a man cheated on his wife, the Taliban would execute the mistress for luring the man away, the husband for being unfaithful to his wife, and the wife for being a bad wife and not satisfying her husband!! how tolerant is that?
Whiffey: Well done dude! Good to see that there are other like-minded people out there with similar perspectives, and not afraid to have their opinions known!

I am Indian, and I have to say that I am sick and tired of all the constant ******** from muslims and black people, as if the World owes them something!

I find it hard to even watch the news about this teddybear issue, because it just irritates me and winds me up so much that I would happily see all such people suddenly drop dead...then we wouldn't have deal with all this mohammed and ali/allah whatever his bloody name, that they try to shove down our throats!

What makes me even more mad is that the government on the whole, and council authorities, seem to tip-toe around muslims, and yet the other people of this country whether white christian, Indian, Spanish, Chinese, etc are made to feel as if they come last! Kill the f***ing lot of them so that we may have a peaceful World to live in!

p.s. Bacon makes the World go round...and I think we should throw bacon rashers from the planes as well as bombs! lol
Good stuff madworld, lets exterminate the kin lot of the kiddy fiddling w4nkers.
Do you know that the Bible tells people that it is okay to kill people and take all their virgin daughters to be your slaves? ("Now kill all the boys [innocent kids]. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man. (Numbers 31:17-18)")

Yes, the Koran has bad bits - but so does the Bible.

What we are asking the Sudanes to do is to make an exception to one of their laws for an immigrant.

How many British people on this site would like the British government to make an exception to our laws for an immigrant? That is what you are asking for

It's unfortunate that what started out as quite an interesting debate has now become a place for rabid weirdos to vent their spleen. The Taliban were an awful bunch and we were right to go in there and sort them out, the people of Afghanistan themselves don't like or want the Taliban back. Mad World because your Indian does'nt give your viewpoint any extra gravitas (the enmity between India and Pakistan is legendary) the idea of killing people (I know it's only talk) is to me abhorrent. It is no more just for "us" to say kill em all than it is for them. I can draw a loose parrallel with Islam now and Christianity 30 years ago. Remember the comedian Dave Allen? He got excommunicated for his comedy! There used to be demonstrations outside theatres were Billy Connolly played. Admittedly nothing on the scale of muslim ire. This whole episode serves Khartoum well as it distracts people away from Darfur, and I think that's got more to do with it. The reality is this case should never have gone to court and she should have been released (at least) in the meantime. I'm not a muslim (I'm a Christian) but I'd hate to be a muslim right now because they're caught between a rock and a hard place. If they follow the (moderate) doctrine of their faith then they're accused of not integrating but intergrate into what? Drinking, drug taking, gambling, promiscuity casual violence? All these things pass for an average Saturday night. There are things wrong with our own society too. Right minded people of all races, creeds and colours need to come together and say no more extremism of any kind (a bit like in Ulster) and then we'll win the just peace we want in this free sovreign land that is still the greatest on Earth.

Get it in proportion OEV.

We are talking here of a British citizen (white, female, Western, maybe Christian - not a lot going for her), facing imprisonment or 40 LASHES for allowing children to NAME A TEDDY BEAR. Even our Foreign Secretary has stated that a physical punishment would be unacceptable - now that's Government interference. My own carp is with the outrageously ludicrous and barbaric reaction of a hard-line Islamic state. I hope they get as much bad press as possible. I hope that when this unfortunate lady gets home she is well publicised by wicked organs like the Daily Mail.

You see, underlying it all for me, is my own personal loathing (and yes, fear) of Islam running unchecked. All other world cultures and faiths appear largely to muck in, but no not Islam.

Having said that, the Muslim Council of Britain have roundly condemned the farce, and good on them.
whiffey - you can spin it anyway you like.

FACTS: A British citizen broke a Sudanese law. She has been arrested and faces a trial.

We may not agree that what she did was harsh but the fact remains that she broke the law.

Ignorance is no defence (unless you are a labour fund raiser but that is another story).

Lets give you another example. If a South Korean person over here - lets say make, age 40 had sex with a consenting 13 year old girl there would be a national outcry. In South Korea, the age of consent is 13. How would you feel if the South Korean's said that we were a backward country and our laws were stupid. His defence would be that it is perfectly legal in his country and the girl was consenting. Should he be arrested and tried - or just let off. After all, his culture would deem it perfectly acceptable.

Many people on here state that people (including / especially Muslims) should obey the law of the land. This woman didn't and should therefore be tried. I will of course be disappointed if she did get imprisoned or whipped, but that is their law.

Raggy - I don't know what a middle eastern gentleman has to do with Sudan - last time I checked, Sudan was in Africa. In England we are a Christian nation but have no issue with bare breasted women on page 3 of the Sun or women showing their breasts on tv. Christian America went absolutely barmy when Janet Jackson showed her breast on tv.
OEV

Something confusing about this story...

How comes it's not offensive for Muslims to call their kids Mohammed???
Question Author
OEV, are you British ? Are you a patriot ? I sometimes wonder.

Because sp1814,
children do not depict a hairy predator, such as a grizzly bear, giving a bear a name like 'Teddy' doesn't make it human. Calling a child Mohamed is not considered an insult in Islam because they will want that child to follow in the way of the prophet.
Sp

I've posted this several times now.

OEV, are you British ? Are you a patriot ? I sometimes wonder.

Because anyone who isn't patriotic can't possibly be British. Even if they have citizenship. Or were born here.

Frankly, whiffey, you are totally pathetic. If you want to react legitimately to 'what you see' - then I advise you look around more (to extend the metaphor) rather than leaping into the air at a glimpse. I'm astonished that sp/OEV have deemed you worthy of arguing with.
Question Author
K_loadsofletters, in my pathetic characteristic way, I don't give a monkey's what you think of me, nor sp nor OEV come to that.

I don't need your advice thanks, but thank you for deigning to give it.
Oneeyedvic(?) I have to say I do find your indifference on this matter a little puzzling.
I watched a programme the other week on sharia law and they showed someone getting lashed, it was'nt a serious beating, but then that's not the point. Geraldine Gibbs should be out NOW if necessary until she faces trial. It should'nt even go that far.
My problem is the silence and duplicity of the woolly liberal elements in this country who are often spouting off about all manner of things (Baa Baa Green Sheep anyone?) where is Galloway? Can't shut up him up normally (must be at home in Portugal) it is wrong to hit a woman, FULL STOP, were are all the people to remind "us" of this, never mind them.
Woolly liberal militancy is the root cause of the malaises of this nation, we all have to suffer the price of their cowardice. Eg the human rights act being invoked to allow a child to wear the hijab against the uniform code, a teacher wanting to wear the burkha in a school, against school policy. When in Rome? But under the rule of the same liberal elites a christian girl wishes to demonstrate her faith by wearing a chastity ring (citing rightly that her hindu friends wear bangles) refused. Teenaged girls should be encouraged into chastity, I bet if she wanted to waer a rednose that'd be ok, or a plastic bracelet for global warming.
Right minded people need to stand up and fight against the double standards of liberalism and the rise of extremism (as evidenced by some of the contributors).
I defy you to condemn the action against this woman unequivecally. For no other reason than it's wrong, it's an offence to humanity, to reason and above all to God!
Should they have any common sense at all it would defeat their illiteracy, but, because they are self-absorb and are blinded by their fascism they fail to recognise their lapse. Muslims who resides in non-Muslim countries and commit a crime should be contingent on the same punishment according to the laws of their Muslim countries. All Muslims found committing a crime here should be punished according to the laws of their country. Lets see how they like that; let them realise the value of freedom ... the freedom and kindness they experience here, what we shower them with. No wonder they all want to come over here!

Very well said everton, you put a great deal more energy into your responses than I do into mine. I started an emotive outburst about an affair of such little significance that governments of nations are involved, talk of a strain being placed on relations between Britain and Sudan.

It is not simply law, nor an intellectual debate such as some try to make it. It is basic, it is earthy, it is nationalistic, it arouses deep passions. That's life.
mybe OEV needs 2 eyes to appreciate the situation better?
In all fairness whiffey I'd be as appalled if the intended victim was not British even if she was a muslim. Injustice anywhere is threat to justice everywhere, it took 9/11 to make me finally understand that.
With refernce to what figure said I have to say quite plainly NO! Over my dead body! I would bear arms against it if sharia law were to come in here. 1 rule of law for all regardless of background.
I am a Christian but I do believe in the secular governance of our nation long may it continue.
Everton, I am referring to ONLY Muslims; they should be punished and held accountable by THEIR laws. Their laws should be implemented for ONLY them, regardless of which country they reside.
