I think Bin Laden is dead. It suits America to pretend he is still alive in order to avoid martyrdom, and it suits Bin Laden's senior people to go along with this charade to 'keep the spirits of the troops' up. If, however, he is not dead, then I think the Americans and the Pakistanis know where he is and are happy just to keep an eye on him.

Distasteful as it appears the facts point out that most conflicts are only settled by talking to the terrorists. Instances could include the IRA, Nelson Mandela, Begin etc.
