Loosehead - in the same way that white people give tacit agreement to paedophilia?

The Muslim council have several times condemned extremists and have Muslim MPs etc.

What would you have them do?

The majority of Muslims are law abiding people who do not want to be tarred in the same way.

Blimey - I just read all of your post (didn't read it all the first time).

What in all that is holy are you banging on about?

Seriously....your post doesn't make a lick of sense.

Read this:

Do you want no action against Islamic extremists or are you just saying you dont want to dirty you own hands and want the rest of us to deal with it out of sight.

Now where is R1Geezers statement does he refer to Islamic extremists?

He refers to Islam in general...he advocates the extermination of Islam.

Go ask a Jewish person whether they think that's a healthy point of view.

That attitude absolutely make me sick. Basically right wing racist bigots, Islamic extremists and Christian fundamentalists should all be armed to the teeth, then dispatched onto a large desert island to finish each other off.

Sky could broadcast it.

It would be a ratings winner.
Emulate Israel? That is the last thing we should do. This idea of retaliating tenfold for any loss of an Israeli is exactly what the Nazis were accused of doing in Europe during the 39-45 war. This attitude of Israel has only increased the number of neighbouring enemies they have. One of their senior people in the last week or so even made a statement in relation to the threats of retaliation against Palestinians, using the word "holocaust", which has been strongly condemned, even within Israel itself.
I don't mind a healthy debate, I just happen to believe that this one is about as sick as it can get. If you take the original question and put Islam where it says Israel and vice versa then it could be actionable under existing legislation, and this website might be under investigation. Morally I think that the lack of protection given to Islam and other religions with the exception of Judaism and Sikhism is very questionable. I would be in favour of seeing the current law extended, and if that means you have to watch what you say so much the better. We are all expected to drive with care and attention - I don't see a big problem in operating the same way when we open our mouths. Politeness, at the very least, is required. To defend a statement that uses words like extermination and filth about fellow citizens of this country is itself indefensible.

Can you imagine us asking to build a church in Kabul or Baghdad or any other muslim country?

The above image is the interior of a Presbyterian Church located in baghdad. Both of the above links can be found by just a couple of minutes on google.

Can yuo imagine a group of Christians preching about good in the middle of Pakistan?

(Note: I'm not citing the Empire as a bad thing. I'm just pointing out that we've had our share of missionaries etc. abroad)

You've got me banged to rights there. However, I only hate those who spread hate (the racists, bigots, extremists).

But still, you're right - I'm sinking down to their rotten level with what I write.

But I still hate all extremists with a passion. From both sides.
yup i'm with u sp
"Loosehead - in the same way that white people give tacit agreement to paedophilia?" - Not remotely similar, look what happens when anyone knows even the existance of a Paedophile in the area, they are drummed out of town, hardly "tacit" approval

"The Muslim council have several times condemned extremists and have Muslim MPs etc." - Great it's a start now how about some positive direct action. Say denounce Sharia law, expel the mad mullah's from the mosques etc

What would you have them do? - As above, start distancing the main religion from the nutters in whatever ways they can come up with, at least show they are not merely paying lip service to condemming the extremists

The majority of Muslims are law abiding people who do not want to be tarred in the same way. then why are they allowing themselves to be tarred by inaction?
sp1814 - like I said no one is right or wrong on here. you have a right to your views and same here. Dont feel you have to justify yourself to me or anyone mate, but I do respect you for that. Again, this is a dscussion, no worngs or rights.

Supernick - please try and read my comment again and try to understand what I meant, coz I dont think you have. Just because I said if we tried to open a church, it means that i want to. I was just demonstrating how they are allowed to get away with whilst we sit here and let them
If anyone wants to kill Osama Bin Laden I know where he is.

Just bomb George Bush and Osma will die with him. Trust me they are together. Did anyone watch that movie Total Recall. Arnie was in the same boat.
Loosehead - Sharia Law is not just about stoning people to death - it is about marriage, interest payments etc. A lot of Sharia Law is compatible with English law - just as the Jews have their own court system for certain items. Why do they need to denounce it?

They are not being inactive - in fact from memory, wasn't one of the London bombers denounced by his own family?

With most extremist groups, I don't imagine that they broadcast themselves to all and sundry. Its like saying if you are from Ireland, why not denounce the IRA - well the Muslim council already have. I don't know how you expect them to tell people who the terrorists are, just as I am sure the ordinary Irish person living in the 1980s didn't know IRA members.
This bit made me laugh.

"R1 may be extreme but he/she puts forward (an albeit agressive) solution."

Yes, a solution that is 100 times worse than the actual problem. It's like setting fire to your carpet to get a stain out.

Truly, deeply, mind-bendingly thick - from the pair of you.
Quinlad - Nearly laughed my tea out my nose with that comment. It's now going to be permenantly in my expressions list

Spaced - I have got your point. You say that you would not be able to open a church there and yet they can open mosques here (not true but I'll run with it). So presumably your point is that we should either
a. follow their example and not allow mosques to be opened here. In which case you're just adopting their standards and attitudes
b. You want them to allow us to open churches over there. In which case you presumably don't have a problem with mosques being opened here

Or is there a hiddden c. in your beliefs..

c. You just don't like muslims

In which case can you just leave one post per week saying 'I hate muslims', don't pretend to offer any argument and instead we can just ignore it?
