i just tried to post this answer, but would not show, so here's take two. i think that any city with a famous university is going to be more advanced than others as opposed to tourist or entertainment cities, (Las Vegas) or, any historic city. i'm thinking of Duke University, right in my backyard, MIT, and wherever Microsoft is located.
