Shannon Matthews
Apologies if this subject has been discussed to death or if it has already been answered on here. Does anyone know why Shannon has not been allowed to return home to her mother? It seems to me that she has been kidnapped twice, once by her 'relative' and now by the police who are not allowing her home!! From the sounds of some of the recent posts on here, her home does not sound a very nice place to be, but then if it was that bad, surely they would take all the children into care? I am suspecting that there is more to this than is being told to us on the news. Is it possible that Shannon ran away to this man who then would not let her return home?

Thanks to both of you for your thoughts, taking your comments into consideration, I now am more convinced that something is definately up! I am sure we will all be told more when the police release the real story!
Martine, I responded to your post about Tia. I am so sorry and hope that you are coping okay.

According to the newsreports, Shannon is remaining in care voluntarily - it is her choice,

This does not necessarily mean that the mother is guilty of anything.

We may never get the full story - if a child has been abused in any way by the parent or close relative, then details are sometimes not released in the media to protect the child.
Reports of child abuse are reported in the media where there is no way of identifying the child. This obviously would not apply here.

Thanks Ethel, I wonder why she does not want to come back home, I know when I was at that age, the only thing I would have wanted was the safety and security of my mum and dad. Understand that this does not necessarily make her mum guilty of anything. If I was Shannon's mum, I would feel shocked and upset though to think that my child does not want to come home, but perhaps I am just being presumptious again as it may be that Shannon realises that the best way to deal with things is to be away from the family for the present.

Thanks for all your answers, I have read some of the posts re the mother and stepfather, it does not sound like a happy home. I also read/heard somewhere that a neighbour of the man who abducted her had apparently seen Shannon playing outside his house during her kidnap, she had reported this to the police who had not investigated it at the time, all very strange. As Ethel says we may not get the full story from the police so perhaps we will never know!
Buildersmate you normally post very helpful answers to people's questions (mainly in the employment section) so I will not take too much offence this time! Prior to this question, I added comments to a post that was a few days old of Redhelen's and was not certain that she had read it or was going to, so took the opportunity to sympathise further with her when she answered on my post, I normally try to keep comments topical.
Redhelen, please give your two cats a big cuddle from mine Bandit and Ozzie, non topical bit over now!!
Thanks for your support Speechless re Buildersmates comments!
