I knew we were in for being fleeced big time as soon as the price of diesel went over the 1.
Sure enough within the space of, what, a month or so since then, Ive now seen it at 1.16 a litre.
Evert time I drive past a garage it seems to have gone up 2p. How can this be justified? Have barrel prices gone up so qiuckly to justify this?
I doubt it very much, purely the fact that now 'they' dont have the 1 barrier they can let rip and whack the prices up as they fancy.
No wonder the country is teetering on the brink of a recession when cr4p like this allowed to happen.
As a footnote, whats that website where you can check for the cheapest fuel prices near you?

"The oil price hit a new record for the fifth consecutive trading session, coming within a whisker of $110 a barrel, as the International Energy Agency warned there was little prospect of energy costs falling far."

However, the majority of the price at the forecourts is tax.
Yes, barrel prices have gone up. The evidence is here.

The website you wanted is here.

Just keep buying at the lowest local prices you can find. It about the only competitive weapon individual motorists can exert.

This is the link. But as far as prices are concerned then it is all because of American war for oil. We have been guilty of standing next to them in this war, so perhaps we should ask USA to give us some out of their reserves. After all they are controlling all the oil production in Saudi Arabia and Iraq. And they are eying the oil reserves in Iran. That is the reason I think fuel is still the cheapest in USA.
petrolprices.com just type petrol prices in google it will b the 1st or the 2nd. id does diesel and petrol and i think lpg
Me and hubby travel quite a lot for work and the fuel prices are creasing us!

Like you say, every time I pass the same garage, it creeps up by a few pence. This has to hit a ceiling at some point, do you think????
the masses can afford personal transport, and can usually afford to transport 3 empty seats everywhere. QED, motoring is still too cheap!

when the country is on its knees due to chronic inflaltion brought about by the rapid fule price rises it *may* stop rising but I doubt it very much.
Its the trouble with having capitalist companies in control of a substance that 90% of the population effectively *have* to purchase.
Similar to Gas and Electric prices isnt it. What with all the more energy efficient devices and gadgets becoming more widespread ergo:- Energy companies may lose revenue ergo:- oh, up go the prices to make up the shortfall and keep shareholders happy.
Wrong, wrong, wrong.

Thanks for the links to the barrel prices.
As I see it then, at most the price of a barrel has risen by 15$ per barrel in the last 3 months.
Doing the maths and and basing on getting 27 gallons of petrol and diesel from a 42 USG barrel (and excluding the other 11 odd gallons that go into other products) that comes out at 7.4p per litre rise. OK, a bit higher than I thought, but still LESS THAN HALF of what we are seeing at the pumps.
Oooh I wonder where all the rest is going? (Rhetorical)

If you think it's a problem now, go and google "peak oil".

With rising demand for oil and depleting reserves something's going to give - it's only a question of when.

Capitalist companies, American war on oil. Erm take a look at where the money goes from your pump price.

Labour Government is the answer. Why are you blaming anyone else they take the lions share and keep pumping it up, plus as VAT is on fuel for cars then everytime the barrel goes up so does the VAT - by 17.5 % of the rise.

You commies make me sick OPEN YOUR EYES

I do agree with everyone that has posted previously however the tax duty on fuel fills this countrys coffers. If you take this away then this money would have to come from somewhere (income tax, VAT), so the question is: where would you prefer to be taxed.

this tax does only affect those that use it the most so is that not the fairest way? BTW i drive my car quite a lot so I get affected as much as the next person.
There is an excellent petion forum. It is called the ballot box.

Well at least I didnt vote them him. If you did then these prices are YOUR fault.
who drives a kin diesel anyway? they all sound like a bag of spanners and pump more sh1t out than the local muck spreader! You need a nice petrol powered motorbike you do! Kin diesel should be 20 a gallon
whoever is is power would be taxing the same on this because it is such a money spinner so voting a different government would not make much difference other than the Green Party but as I said previously where would you want this money to come from then?

I know, how about a 25,000 per person bond paid for by all the immigrants into the country. That might put the ******* off a bit!

True it goes into the coffers only to be wasted on Government pet projects such as 5 a day co ordinators and other such non jobs to tell us all how to live.

I dont think anyone would mind if it was being pumped into public transport but it isn't. Believe me I know as I use it daily.

We could also stand up to Europe and tell them to take a hike - we're not paying. Certainly while the likes of France take out. What can they do kick us out, I dont think so but what does Bottler do Oh he gives back the bras that Maggie won us.

Gawd help us for the next two years. (pun intended)
Most of the increase is down to the price of oil being bought in $'s. We all know how this currency is sliding against other currencies such as the Euro. And to cap it all the is losing value against the $ also. YOU HAVE TO ASK THE POLITICIANS WHY WE DIDN'T JOIN THE EURO WHEN WE HAD THE CHANCE?
would we be better off under the single european currency? I like the idea that we keep our independence from Brussels and thing that as a soveriegnty we should also have our own currency.
