Council spies on family for three weeks to check they lived in the school's catchment area

An undercover council official spied on a family for three weeks to check that they lived within the school catchment area. The official logged the family's moves without them knowing. The family are of course furious that they had been 'stalked' in this manner. The council won't inform the family as to whether or not those watching her and her family were police checked and whether they were taking pictures. Poole Borough Council acted under an Act which is meant to be used for improving national security. What do you think - a complete and utter waste of money and an invasion of innocent people's privacy?

Gromit another long-winded reply with totally no substance that we have come to expect from you and the rest of your crew when you have backed yourself's in a corner.

Knowing your superior than thou attitude, that you try to show to us mere mortals, I automatically assumed that you were trying to offer yourself up for the post of AB's editorial adviser.

The link I kindly supplied was not the best one. It conveniently left out the information that previous investigations had found fraudulent applications.

The link "I KINDLY SUPPLIED" (see what I mean about your superior than thou attitude?)

You hypocritically used the Daily Mail facillties for your link and then when found out, you made a hasty U-turn and stated "it was not the best one". ( Mr Brown would have been so proud of you) Well then clever clogs why didn't you use a better one?

Call it racist if you must I don't care, it doesn't frighten me, it is only a word. But what does frighten me along with about 80% of the indigenous population, is the fact that English is not the primary language spoken by the pupils in many of our schools.

Perhaps Gromit if you are not satisfied with the way that AB is run, you should consider resigning from the site, along with your lap-dogs.
AOG - luckily you don't have an holier than though attitude:

"But what does frighten me along with about 80% of the indigenous population, "

Are you just making up figures now? Believe it or not, the Daily Mail does not have a readership of 80% of the population.

Mayb e you can also quantify your following statement: is the fact that English is not the primary language spoken by the pupils in many of our schools. What exactly is many? One percent, 10 percent, 50 percent? Or are you just making up your own statistics and attributing your beliefs to 80 % of the population

Incidentally, Gromit has obviously searched the Daily Mail site since that is the first place to look for stories that the Ed writes about (since they are sensationalist stories).

I would say that it is a shame that you don't understand why a link is important - as opposed to a couple of paragraph summary, but since your world appears to be black and white and doesn't allow for grey, it would seem pointless.
Some local authorities and schools were struggling to cope with the influx of immigrants, he said, noting that at one junior school in his own Birmingham constituency the proportion of children with English as a second language rise from five per cent to 20 per cent in just one year.

Labour's Immigration Minister Liam Byne
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A survey by YouGov for Dispatches now suggests that Enoch Powell was right. Eighty-three per cent of Britons polled said they feel that there is an immigration crisis, and 84 per cent believe that the Government should stop or reduce immigration altogether.

Sixty-six per cent feel their jobs are being undercut by migrant workers, and 69 per cent feel they are losing out because new immigrants are given special treatment.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Even though the facts hurt the "looney left", I do not make up figures.
Now get back on Gromit's lap.
Not very convincing AOG

at one junior school in his own Birmingham constituency the proportion of children with English as a second language rise from five per cent to 20 per cent in just one year.

That means 80% had english as a first language.
That does not support your claim that English is not the primary language spoken by the pupils in many of our schools.

Your next claim:
80% are frightened that english is a second language.
To prove this you offer a television poll about immigration in general. The total number surveyed was 1066. The full survey is below.

http://www.yougov.com/archives/pdf/JuniperNatR ep.pdf

The same survey asked if immigration should be stopped altogether and 74% said no and 23% yes. It is easy to cherry pick and survey like this.

There was no question about Enoch Powell, or whether he was right or wrong. I suggest you read the full survey instead of relying on the Daily Mail's spin of it.

But you trade in generalisations so you probably won't bother.
You said: But what does frighten me along with about 80% of the indigenous population, is the fact that English is not the primary language spoken by the pupils in many of our schools.

If you really think that this is the same as:

Eighty-three per cent of Britons polled said they feel that there is an immigration crisis, and 84 per cent believe that the Government should stop or reduce immigration altogether.

Then really I despair.

Maybe you should try to understand English before commenting further.
Oneeyedvic, the best sensationalist stories used to be in the sunday sport , world war two bomber found on the moon, number 81b routemaster bus found at the north pole.etc, etc

pusspuss. I remember those! However when the editor was interviewed he told the interviewer to prove it hadn't happened!! LOL

They interviewed a real expert from some university or other and asked him what he thought the chances were that the pilot of the bomber was still alive. The expert said that it was highly unlikely that he had taken 40 years worth of oxygen and food with him, so it was unlikely that he was alive LOL.

The best one tho (and I actually bought the sunday sport purely on the strength of this headline) was "Greenfly ate my Lover". Turned out he was in love with a cabbage (or lettuce -can't remember) but was quoted as saying that he had got there too late and if "she" had survived the attack she would have been a vegetable all her life LOL

....and all these years later, he's still saying "prove it" under interview.

Mind you, this was not about bombers on the moon, but when he was arrested last week in connection with football corruption.........

Plus ca change.
brachiopod

I think you are mixing up Tony Livesey, the then Editor of the SPORT and David Gold, porn baron and publisher of the SPORT.
the best one was when they found an untouched 2000 year old egyptian mummy wearing a manchester united shirt with sharp electronics on it proving that united have had fans all over the world longer than any other football club.the mail ,telegraph, times, they all missed this scoop.if it is printed in the paper it must be true ??????
Get real Gromit, this 15% increase in only one year was only in a particular Birmingham school, this is frightening enough, but there are many schools across the land where the figure is bound to be much greater. Primrose High School in inner city Leeds 11 different languages are spoken.

Regarding Enoch Powell I did not rely on the Daily Mail's spin on it as you once again wrongly stated.

This was reported and wrote by, Rageh Omaar himself a Soami immigrant to this country.

So now, 40 years after his incendiary speech, I have travelled around Britain for a Channel 4 Dispatches documentary - Immigration: The Inconvenient Truth - to find out the real legacy of his words, and the state of race relations today.

If you are watching this series, (The Inconvenient Truth) the immigration problem in this country is far from your rose tinted glasses outlook on it. Even the established immigrants have had enough.

I think you should have the civil right to send your child to the school of your choice. I had to buy a house facing my daughters school and it took me a further 10 months to get her in there and even at that I had to get her in on appeal.

I have just changed religion to get her into the Secondary School of my choice.

Why................................................... Because I am a Mother and I do what is necessary for my child.

"Established immigrants." I bet you hated typing that.
Get real Gromit, this 15% increase in only one year was only in a particular Birmingham school, this is frightening enough, but there are many schools across the land where the figure is bound to be much greater. - ahh the good old "bound to be" - good old scientific fact - that's what we like. Why let facts get in the way of an opinion?

Primrose High School in inner city Leeds 11 different languages are spoken. and in Newbury Primary School, languages are spoken: http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/article-234 51651-details/The+primary+school+where+850+pup ils+speak+41+different+languages/article.do

Personally I see this as a good thing, but I guess if you have the attitude of 'just speak in a loud voice to the natives, they are bound to understand', I can see why you find this upsetting.

Haven't watched the dispatches program, but lets face it - a program with the title "The inconvenient truth" is hardly going to be fair and impartial is it?
Primrose High School.
Another example that does not prove your assertion that many (you still haven't quantified many) schools do not have English as its first language. The School has 19% Bangladeshi pupils and yet it still has a majority (over 50%) of pupils who have english as their mother tongue.

Did it come last in the local school league tables then? No, there were seven schools below it, with a CofE school in last place. League table here

"During the last 2 years Education Leeds data highlighted that Primrose was the best school in Leeds for adding value between Key Stage 3 and 4." From their website./a>

OSTED gave the school a good report.
Here

Rather than being an example of a poor school because of immigration, OFSTED has highlighed it as a school doing good things BBC News Report

Thanks for that link Oneeyedvic or should I call you Gromit2 since you always answer posts addressed to him.

Having read that post makes the situation even more frightening than I first envisaged.

Can anyone imagine what it would be like for a child who's only language is English, being a pupil at that school.

Alright for the children who speak their native tongue at home, they can learn English also, but at the expense of putting behind the education of the English child.

Like all you looney lefties, you refuse to accept the truth of what is really going on in this country, so much so that you refuse to even watch certain programmes, in case they happen to change your blinked views.

So don't criticise something that you have no knowledge of.
"I did not rely on the Daily Mail's spin on it ..This was reported and wrote by, Rageh Omaar."

In the Daily Mail! HERE

If the Daily Mail commisioned this article from Rageh Omaar, paid him and printed it on its pages, how can you claim it is not your source?
The Rageh Omaar quotes you keep offering are not transcripts of his television programme, they are word-for-word from the Daily Mail article, for which he was probably handsomely paid.
Quinlad

I had better answer your pathetic contribution on the subject.

"Established immigrants." I bet you hated typing that.

No I did not hate typing that., please don't judge others like yourself.

Unlike your type I am not afraid to state the truth, or in this case type the facts. There are such a thing as Established Immigrants, and only a fool would shy away from accepting this fact.

Except the Left seem to have trouble presenting or even acknowledging the true facts.

Can anyone imagine what it would be like for a child who's only language is English, being a pupil at that school.

Ruddy fantastic - you can generally learn to swear in 40 odd languages.

So don't criticise something that you have no knowledge of.

I think this is the most laughable thing you have ever posted.

I presume you went to a school where you only spoke English and lots of other pupils spoke a foreign language. -oitherwise you would be being just a little bit hypocritical.

With regards to watching programs - to be honest I wouldn't watch a program b y Nick Griffin denying the holocaust - doe this mean that I have a blinkered view?

You see immigration as a big problem. I see it as something that has brought a lot of good things and some bad things. I have a pretty balanced viewpoint - you are the one who turned a discussion on a council spying on parents of children into an anti immigration rant.
Oh Gromit admit defeat you will save a lot if time searching for links to try and prove your point.

Sorry Oneeyedvic posted a link to prove my point and shot you down in flames, you must give him a good telling off, and tell him if he doesn't behave himself, he can no longer be your lap-dog.

Of course Rageh Omaar wrote the Daily Mail article, and of course he would have got paid for it. This is how journalism works. Are you trying to say that his words were censored by the Daily Mail editorial staff. This may happen in the politics that you favour but it doesn't happen in the free press.

Incidently I quoted from his article in the Daily Mail, because I could not post from the Dispatches programme, couldn't you realise that fact? Or are you so quick to try and dig at the Daily Mail, that you have lost all your sense of reason, that is if you had any to start off with.

I suggest that you catch up on this programme, or are you also like one eye, you can't bring yourself to observe the truth? But then perhaps you are one of the same person.
