What happens to properties people die in?

Recent news of Mark Speight's finacee dying in the bath of their rented London flat made me wonder, what happens with flats where people die?

Do the Landlords of these properties have to declare to new tenants that someone died there? Would the Landlord of Speight's flat take the bath out and replaced it? Will the flat ever get let out again?

What really happens to properties where people die suspiciously, commit suicide or are murdered?

What really happens to them is that someone else goes and lives in them! This might freak out some people but wouldn't worry others. Landlords or sellers are under no obligation to declare anything. Why should they?

However, very often properties where there have been multiple killings remain empty and will be demolished due to the press coverage, the lack of anyone wanting to live in them and, of course, out of respect.

Most people don't worry about it. It certainly wouldn't bother me.

I would think there are a very high proportion of homes in this country where someone has met an untimely death for one reason or another. It wouldn't bother me either unless they came back to haunt! ;o)

I have my Grandmother's old bed that she died in as my bed now - well she didn't need it anymore.

A landlord/estate agent will not tell you anything that may put you off the property unless it's something they're legally obliged to mention

Was that because the previous occupant was still there? Still, makes for a good draught excluder :)

my house was used to kill 14 people, they were all thick stupid people who asked daft and pointless questions, i moved in and it stopped. but since i`ve been reading some of these threads i can see why the murderer did it!
