I just cannot believe that this man could get away with it for this long. The wife says she knew nothing of it. I myself find that hard to believe, or that she just couldn't have cared that much for the woman. Also don't you think he looks a bit like George Galloway :-)

Just getting back to the childbirth thing for a moment...
In Western cultures, because we have access to more nutritious food, better medicines etc babies have been getting bigger and bigger over the past 100 years or so.
This, I'm led to understand, why so many women have to be 'cut' during the childbirth process.
In less developed parts of the world, the size of the child isn't generally an issue (they're smaller).

What the hell were the Austrian police doing (or not doing). The girl must have been reported missing by someone 24 years ago, did they not search the house? I feel sorry for the 18 year old boy who apparently has never seen daylight and has grown up assuming that the world is contained in just one room (one for philosophers to ponder!). I don't suppose there was a tv or radio or any contact with the outside world.
He will have terrible psychological problems. Imagine if at 18 (which is an angst ridden age for most) you discovered that the universe was not what you thought it was.
