Damage done by bathroom fitters
Is it reasonable to expect a certain level of damage to my property by the tradesmen fitting a new bathroom? The sliders for the Ramsey ladder into the loft were split which means that the bottom section of the ladder is no longer secure. A fitter returned to the house and bent them back, but they are still split.
The garage was used as a workroom and there are now digs in the concrete floor. I am still holding back 1,000.00 pending final snagging on other bits and pieces - should I expect compensation for the damage or is it 'fair wear and tear'?

I hope they do get it sorted for you, it really does annoy me, when people go into houses and treat the property without the respect it deserves, it is wrong, it is unprofessional and it gets us all a bad name, if you aren't happy with what they do, contact the owner or director of the company and ask him if he would be happy to have this done to his house, I would suggest you take photos of the damage they have done, they have already admitted they did, by returning and attempting to mend the ladder, hope you get it sorted to your satisfaction, good luck, Ray
i would say digs in the concrete garage floor, unless they're huge potholes, are almost fair wear and tear, as it was used as a workroom. it is after all just a garage.
the loft ladder i would agree with you about. they don't come cheap and it needs repairing properly.
we have, over the years, had many extensions and alterations done to our house, including 2 new bathrooms within the last couple of years, and seen a variety of tradesmen. in my opinion, there are things worth complaining about and others which are part and parcel of having work done.
