I certainly remember kids on School trips bringing back switchblades and flick knives from France 30 years ago!
Knife crime's actually gone down in the last 10 years it's just the media's current hobby horse.
Stick around it'll be joyriding again soon and then they'll move back onto gun crime or drugs.
The idea is to keep you constantly thinking the world's gone to hell in a handbasket

Most knives on general sale are used in cooking.
Butchery knives need sharp points for penetrating meat, and also for boning, but other knives do not always require a point - it is perhaps just accepted design.

the point of the knife enables you to start the cut or incision into the object or person who you choose (hopefully sensibly). i fully agree with people carrying knifes which are used as tools. i carry one of my swiss army pen knifes everywhere except when i go out to bars etc...
if i was carrying my hunting knife everywhere then i think i would have a problem. its designed for cutting flesh and has no place on the streets.

I would agree that knife crime is the Media's little fetish just now, but only if it happens in London!
Glasgows stats are so much worse than Londons but then the media isnt interested in much outside greater London.
