Should this sort of thing be taught in our schools?

sp expressed scepticism. He didn't say it was definitely untrue, he just wasn't sure. He ought to have checked though, his failure to do so did surprise me.

Fact is that the Mail has in the past repeated stories which have been proven false. The best recent example of which is this report in which a story from the Sun in June 2003 is repeated. Unfortunately, the Sun's article was also proved almost entirely false at the time...

Napoleon, Hitler, Mao, David Koresh, Jimmy Jones, George W Bush and hundreds of others who became so enamoured with their own self importance they believed their every thought was guided by God.

Napoleon was agnostic, Mao was communist. Hitler is a bit of a grey area, but did believe in some kind of 'destiny' in store for him.

Actually, you could make it up, couldn't you:
In a bid to respect cultural sensitivities, the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) is considering the move while drawing up new guidelines on the use of police dogs.

Many Muslims refuse to have direct contact with the animals, which are considered "unclean" in Islamic culture.

An ACPO spokeswoman said current guidelines were being re-drafted, but the suggestion that police dogs wear bootees had not been ruled in or out.

Oneeyedvic could not make it up but probably the DM has done so. Just went on to the APOC website and looked at the press releases for July 4th, 3rd and 2nd. No mention of dogs wearing booties.

Now that might be because the DM have a scoop and this is breaking news, or it might be the usual intemperate, unbridled and specious nonsense that they print in their war against Muslims and anyone who doesn't foam at the mouth when Muslims are mentioned.

Get your fact right before accusing them of making up these reports.
