Trying to find a book called Messiah.

Read this ages ago. It was about a guy with psychic powers that could heal or kill. When he used them he would cry tears of blood. As a boy his mother would read him stories about the Irish hero Cu Cullain (I've probably spelt that wrong.) Can't find it at the online bookshops so possibly out of print. Trouble is if I try an internet search for Messiah I get loads of results but nothing close to what I'm searching for. Anyone know the author ?
