Football joke
Ok, I know this is an old one but it's funny.........
A man manages to get a ticket for a really important football match but sadly it is right at the back of the stadium. Suddenly he spots an empty seat right at the front so he makes his way down and asks the old man next to it why it's empty.
"It was my wife's seat" he replied "We have been coming here every saturday for 50 years but she died last week"
The man replied " Oh, I'm sorry to hear that but wasn't there anyone else you could have brought, a friend or neighbour?"
"No" replied the old man "They are all at her funeral !"

The original(?) variant I heard was about the golfer, faced with a difficult approach shot in a needle match, who gets set up over the ball when a funeral cortege turns into the road which runs through the course. He immediately straightens up and removes his cap and stands motionless until the cars have moved out of sight. His playing companions all make shift to follow suit. As the golfer resumes his preparations one of the fourseome remarks that he'd been impressed by the man's show of respect. "Oh no, let's be fair", says the man, just before his shot, "it's the least I could do"..........adding after the follow through, "she was a good wife to me!"
