I am a Scot living in England. I was travelling to Scotland on Sunday. I was dissapointed to se that the 'Welcome to Scotland' sign on the M6 has gone and been replaced by a 'Welcome to Dumfries and Galloway' sign. On my return journey this afternoon, I saw that the 'Welcome to England' sign is still there. Does anyone know why?
Aww thats crud -I dont know why- but when I was drove to England and back a few weeks back there were big signs -straw hats and trumpets (exago lol) but that was on the A1.
Will ask H cos he travels the M6 every 2nd Thursday so he would notice surprised he hasnt said -then he might have and I might have just nodded lol
Hi Wizard. Thanks for your answer. I remember when I was a kid, we used to count down when crossing the border in both directions. Looking out for the signs was a fun part of the journey. I'm sad to say, it felt like the end of an era when I saw it was gone :-(
Hi Drisgirl. I'm glad there is still a sign somewhere, but I think there should be one on the M6, as this is the main road used to travel from England to Scotland.
Good try tho -I wouldnt even attempt it at this time of the morning and on that note -im away to try to crawl into my bed hoping that my pals wee dolly birds have finally succumbed to slumber.
hi all....i go to the scottish borders on the east from glasgow most weekends(a1 route)and there is welcome to scotland sign northbound but southbound there is only a small welcome to berwick upon tweed sign....mabye the english council r to tight to fork out for a super duper sign??
