The present Cabinet is a pretty lame, lacklustre bunch and that is the only reason he will survive (for now). There is no credible alternative.

Cameron has the same problem, his shadow cabinet is packed with uncharasmatic lightweights.

What is it about Charles Clarke. He seems to have a death wish for the Labour party. He was sacked last year as Home Secretary for allowing foreign convicts back on our streets instead of deporting them. He is the failure not Gordon Brown and he'd better get used to it.

Agree with Gromit, they are all a right shower. But the present government is particularly disgusting and i want to see Brown suffer until he is booted out.

Brown was uncontested for leader. It was a one horse race. He could not have been an 'also ran' in a one horse race.

Not that I am supporting him. He has been pretty rubbish.

Gromit, describing someone as an 'also ran' doesn't necessarily mean he was a losing competitor in a race. In this instance it means he has never been fit for the office he now holds. See number 3 here. It describes an 'also ran' as one that has little talent or success.

Brown was not elected, but appointed by his party in power. It's time the people got a chance to actually vote for their so-called leader, n'est pas?
