American Vice presidents have always been a bit suspect.

The trouble is it is a non-job so anyone with any political ambitions will not take it if offered.

It only becomes a problem if the president dies in office (or is sacked or resigns like Nixon) and you finish up with somone like Gerald Ford

Dan Quayle was such an awful vice president that it was said that the US secret service had been told that if ever the president was shot they had to shoot Dan Quayle.

The problem with Palin being VP is that McCain is very old a has a record of poor health. She could be president more easily than VPs of younger, fitter presidents of the past.

I didn't like Obama's use of the line, "You can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig." either. Sure, it's a proverbial saying and it's possible to think it is apposite when looking at McCain's rather Orwellian claim that 4 more years of Republicanism in the White House represents change. But coming so soon after Palin's line about lipstick on a pitbull it's impossible that the linkage was accidental and it was a cheap shot.
I really don't see the connection with "mosque control" though. I'm sure that those who think Obama is tainted by his association with Rev Wright can't possibly think that he's taking orders from an Imam as well...or can they? Doublethink is such a useful thing.

You cannot be born a muslim or any other religion for that matter. It is knowledge that has to be acquired, and when you pop out of the womb you cannot do that.

A child has no say on how it is brought up, so if it is taught one religion, be it islam or christianity, then there is nothing it can do about it.

When the child reaches adulthood, then it is free to either believe what it has been taught, or follow another path.

You'll be telling us Boris Johnson is muslim next because his Grandfather was.

You cannot be born a muslim? Theoretically not the same as any other religion. But the realtiy is if you are born into a fammily of faith, not matter waht it is, you will be indoctrinated.
