A Welsh village was destroyed by a landslide of coal. Terrible tragedy.
Its name was Aberfan
When the bing slipped it hit twenty houses and the local school but the village was not destroyed as such. Is it a UK village by the way?

This sounds like a story. Is it a novel or a film?

It's not real....can't find anything on google.
Keep up, Raggy.

Aberfan was destroyed by a landslide. Corby was asking about the one destroyed by an exploding tanker.

So he can help answer the question.

That's a bit embarrassing, mate.

"Is it a UK village by the way?
What a stupid question!! Aberfan is in Wales and Wales is part of the UK"

I am well aware that Aberfan is in Wales. The QUESTION mentioned no country did it? So then, who's stupid now?
now now !!! its in south wales , in a small village community , where most of the children were wiped out , in the sixties , but the community pulled together , but the scars are still left, and always will be , the courage of the people are unbeleiveable , to this day .

But even after thinking, 'Yeah but Wales is in the UK', it didn't occur to you that he might be referring to the other one? You just piled in with abuse. Bit hasty, that's all.

Oooops probably not. That explosion was in 1971.

What`s happening here? Too much excitement about something that never happened? The event at Flixborough was in 1974. A chemical plant had an explosion and 28 people were killed. It was the biggest explosion in Britain since the war and the village is still there!
The Flixborough explosion was was close to Scunthorpe, Notts. It was a chemical plant and the vapours released broke combusted causing lives & damage. There is still an aftermath of cancer of some who breathed the vapours & fumes released. This was around 70s. Nothing to do with a vehicle tho.
