How do I get back the money I am owed?!
5 Answers
Whilst renting a house with two friends one stopped paying their rent, then took money out of our joint account without informing us. They have since left, cutting off most contact. I have asked for the money back a number of times and had nothing. This has been going on for 2 months now. I am owed almost 1000. Anyone know if I can claim this back and how I would go about it? I am in the process of drafting a formal letter asking for what is owed to me. Thanks for any help anyone can give!

This can be done online and is relatively cheap. You should write and tell her that if she does not pay within 28 days you will start legal proceedings. Send the letter by recorded post and keep a copy.
You will need to be able to show that she does indeed owe this money - otherwise it will be your word against hers.
Even if you win there is no guarantee you will get your money - you may have to issue enforcement orders.
