We had an earthquake here last night.

Hi. There was an earthquake near me last night. At first it sounded like someone rattling my front door, but I looked out and there was no-one there. Then my mates rang me and asked if I had felt it?
My one friend , who lives the other side of town to me, and nearer the epicentre, said her sofa moved!
How scary is that!
Has anyone else felt the tremors of an earthquake.

Yeah, we had one last year sometime. I really couldn't work out what was happening and assumed our house was subsiding or something!

Not sure what this says about me as a parent, but my first thought was "Oh God, my fishtanks" and not my child asleep in the next room.

It's strange at the time because you don't know what it is. Like if it just makes your door rattle, like it did mine, it can be quite spooky.

We had one a couple of years ago; thought it was really spooky - didn't know what it was , thought it was some ghost activity as my bed was rocking.
I was the only one to hear it. I didn't even leave the bed, just stuck my head back under the covers so I didn't see the ghost!

Hi, sunflower. It's not until afterwards when you find out what it was that everything seems ok.
The bed moving would spook me out too.

It woke me up with a jolt

Ethel, I remember that one very well. we felt it slightly here too, but the ironic thing about that one was it happened only a few minutes after my brother had died. We all took it for a sign that it was God and The Devil fighting over who should have him.

I was in the Manchester one not long ago.

The biggest one was in one of the big aftershocks when I was in Los Angeles not long after the Big One.

It caused a lot of panic as it was in the middle of the night and a similar time of the morning as the real one.

The family I was living with had cracks all other the place and had had to move out into a camper van for a while after the real one, shocking seeing all the pictures.
