Evil Throat of Death
10 Answers
Hi all, just wondering if I could tax a medical minded sort. I have a sore throat at present but it's unlike one I've ever had before, I don't have a cold or flu, I feel fine in myself now I've slept for 24 hours solid, but still this throat problem persists and seems to be worsening. It started on Monday with just one side hurting when I swallowed, then yesterday was still painful and I was quite dizzy and felt a bit disorientated, now today it has now progressed to both sides being very swollen, very painful and very red, both also seem to have white 'spots' on them. It has now gotten to the stage where I'm finding it very painful to even swallow saliva let alone food or drink. I went to the doctor yesterday and saw the nurse as the doc wasn't available and now have something for the dizzy feeling but it's the throat that's giving the hassle and I would just like to know if anyone has any idea what it is? It's very strange as I haven't been in contact with anyone that has been unwell for quite some time. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I have been doing the honey and lemon thing, I actually quite like it anyway. Do you know how I might have contracted it? I know that's a daft question but I thought it was only through contact with infected saliva etc. I haven't even shared a glass with anyone but my partner for some years now and he hasn't had anything like this, don't worry, not sharing anything at the moment so as not to infect him!
Hi Charlo,
Do you have an out of hours service where you are rather than waiting till Friday?
Our docs are closed on a wednesday and of course weekends, which is usually when I need a doc so I call Thames Doc or Sea Doc depending on where I am and I get an appointment at the GP service at the hospital.
It does sound like you need antibiotics and sooner rather than later...... xxx
