Lord Geezer ...

... may I have your permission to post a contrary view?

Your High Priestess.

My Geez, JJ you ain't a sweaty are you? 5000000000 hail Geezers!

all views welcome!
I could not be further from being a sweaty sock, Lord Geezer (unless I moved from Brighton to Cornwall).

Maradonna was a cheat, yes.

But cheating is endemic in top level football (except at Brighton and Hove Albion, obviously).

Michael Owen dived for a penalty against Argentina, didnt he? Peter Crouch even pulled a defenders hair to score (cant remember the details).

Chelsea have built their whole game around inexplicably falling over.

The Maradonna incident is infamous, sure. But cheating happens.
It was over twenty years ago so, stop bleating and move on. You won your only world cup through a dodgy decision so maybe things even themselves up. The fact is England have been proven not to be good enough time and time again.

I would generally agree that we are terminally sh1te, and fo the record I only count 1966 as half a WC, I just get so pi55ed off with ch1p on the shoulder jocks always being so racist against England. I know they are bitter at just missing out on being English but hey we all have to play the hand we are dealt. It could be a lot worse........
Sgt Rocky - Once again you post rubbish.

Similarly to Maradona you say: England won a World Cup with a goal that never crossed the line,'' Maradona said. ``I don't think it's fair that people should judge me when things like that went on.''

I recall that the 'controversial' goal was scored by Geoff Hurst in the 101st minute (during extra time) which gave England a lead of 3-2.

Assuming the goal HAD been disallowed, surely Hurst's third goal on 120 minutes making it 4-2 was the winner.

Get your dodgy facts right Rocky - it is so easy (moreso for you) - to make yourself look a fool.

further to a.guest and it wasn't blatent hand ball that was seen by most of the planet except the 3 people that should have seen it,. It was kicked toward the goal in an attempt to score. Anyway as A.Guest rightly says, Hurst won it later anyway.....they think it's all over....
Had it been disallowed, the course of the match would have changed and Hurst's third goal may never have been scored.
Now who is the fool A.Guest?
Rocky - you have just proven my point . . . .

Question Author
ok if the hand of god "goal" had been given, correctly, as a free kick to England, the course of that game would also have been different.........keep digging, numpty
A.Guest

Just playing Devil's Advocate for a mo ... you argument works both ways.

It may be argued that Maradonna'd "dodgy" goal demoralised England, and gave Argentina the momentum to score their next goal. Without the dodgy goal, Argentina might not have scored the good one.

The same argument has been suggested with regards to England's goals.
Question Author
anyway, Sgt, why are you bleating on about something that happenned 42 years ago??
The Jocks should know all about handball cheats though at number 19 here:

Think that may be a bit hard for A.guest to take in, Jayne.
Question Author
so the ball is in line with his hand, big bl00dy deal, good photo angle, is that your point?

Anyway now one has had a got at the actual question(s) yet!
Very true jayne - but we are talking facts here not hypothetical 'ifs'
Oh dear Rocky - - shot in foot again!

The number 19 you refer to was Wales 0 v Scotland 2.

Disregard to 'hand-ball' and the result would STILL have been a win for the Scots.

Can you not see, your arguments are merely supposition - maybes?

If if if only
R1 - Know what Sweaties and piles have in common ?

A - Both much better when they go back up again.

If Sweatyland is so good, why do they all come here and moan?
